Why bother listening to Radio?

Now, XM Radio is great because you hear a lot of different music you wouldn't hear normally on regular radio. But why do ppl bother listening to regular radio these days? They play the same songs, the songs suck and you don't really go outside the 'box' of mainstream by listening to it. Time for a new format ppl!

Rudedog no no no!

For me radio is entertainment. I love the presentation and a good personality makes for great entertainment. if a jock is good they can make a horrible song entertaining. I know quite a few people that are in radio. a lot of them have been in radio for 25 or more years. they hate the big conglomerate business of radio. believe me they are more upset than the consumer. to me, nothing beats a good jock.

I used to listen to XM much more when they had punk and alternative channels. It very often hipped me to a new artist or an older act that I hadn't heard. XM, after merging with Sirius, has become just as awfully redundant as broadcast Clear Channel muck. I'll listen to the XM jazz or reggae stations, plug in the iPod or pop in a CD.

My car only has the radio, and I enjoy music while I drive so that is the only time I listen, it gets frustrating tho when the same songs and stupid commercials are the only options, I will go thru the dial sometimes three times with nothing appealing on, I do alot of streaming Community radio too

I almost thought this was a thread that ends with "...because with all of the music Prince puts out, who needs it?"

I haven't listened to the radio all that much between 2002-2005, if I could help it.
The summer of 2006, it's slowly made its comeback. Or maybe I just found the perfect station that plays MY kind of music. 80's, 90's and current. And it limits the garbage to at least 10%, in which case I can change the channel.
Occasionally, I can get Prince on my favorite station.
I would die 4 u, Raspberry Beret, 1999 and Kiss have all gotten airplay and I might have forgotten one other

Seriously, though, I don't listen to the radio just to see if he'll come on. It's more about what 80's songs pop up or which songs I grew up with in the mid-late 90's I'll hear.
Nothing quite like being taken back to that time cool ah the memories

btw, shouldn't this be in the General Discussion forum? lol

cloud9 The instant I heard Gold’s first note, it became Prince’s mark on my soul: a tattoo I wear with pride.
mushy Prince is Dreamy, gives my Life that Pop and 2 the industry, he’s Royalty. cool
