The melody is not the same. The bass is not the same. The rhythm is not the same. The instrumentation is not the same.

These 2 tracks and HUNDREDS of others sound similar....but are not the same, steals or rips. It is great, soulful, jazz music and there is a lot of that about....doesn't mean all these artists are copying or stealing from each other....just exploring a similar genre of music.

Nice comparison. Prince's unique interpretation of tradditional jazz rythms, instruments and tempos works nicely on From the Lotus; of course Miles will lead with trumpet while Prince, guitar. Jazz is ambiguous.
