so powerful it still nearly makes teary, even after listening 2 it regulary 4 all these years.

completely sums up a situation i feel about with a friend who i just cant seem to get to feel for me. i hate her and love her at the same time.

One of Prince's hidden jewels. I say 'hidden' because you hardly hear it mentioned when listing Prince's greatest songs of all time.

The concept of "I hate you so much, that I love you..." is something that we can all relate, we've all been there.

My guess is that the song is emotional even for Prince and was written about a lovely female that he still has some feelings for... that makes it even cooler. I wish he would play it more.

It fits so perfectly on the album too, which is, by far, his best of the 90's.

I think it's a dual message, but wasn't it really written about Carmen Elektra? I felt it spoke of her, as well as WB in a more general way.

One of the most impressive tracks he has ever composed. It has so much emotion and musical sophistication, especially the last part in the courtroom - brilliant!

you are so right... i was just talking about this album in another post... i love this entire album and unfortunately it was basically ignored by the mainstream..... I hate U remains one of of my favorite songs of all time

I'm not a fan of that extended mix though, with the drum machine and electronic sound behind it. It's too crass and tinny. I like the original, and if someone would mix the extended mix talking OVER the album version in some new extended version.

Difficult time in my life...issues with EX-fiance! Rings so true. It touched (still does) my emotions, It helped me deal with and cope with the issues at the time. Oh...the memories. The remix or alternate version is nice as well.

This song shows the true hurt that men can't express..the one thing that makes a man a man is pride..in the long version he calls his woman his little nasty miss,,noone could see..only me..no man would or could ever imagine his lady, he put up on a pedastal doin something nasty with the next man..then he said..like the feather in forrest gump ...floating in the air...until the bus comes...lolol..that made me think that her thing was like a cathedral afterwards...lololololol..
