The last time U listened to Musicology LP

It had to be since 2006 ...honestly...I like some of the songs, but as a whole just does not stand out or evencaptures my attention.

I LOOOOOVE the era and the Musicology tour...it was GREAT! I wish therer was a live album to go with it...a real one other than Shark Tank & Club Black....I listen to those albums alot more than Musicology itself.

The album...is not bad actually...but the sound...it just sounds....bland and all over the place.

I understand he was going to have an album of all the sounds he is capable of...but together...it just sounded messy.

Illusion Coma right after Musicology... The marrying Kind falls into a jazz tune then in2 a blues tune "On The Couch"...just didnt add up....
Im one of those people who LOVED Life O The Party, but sounded odd against Call My name and Cinnamon Girl.

I appreciate Lotus Flower with giving us cohesive sets with one genre of music attatched....it fits a theme and comes as a whole. i think Prince was having problems putting too many different sounds in one album successfully. It worked in the past..however he expanded his sound so much that there just was too many at one time in my opinion.

I haven't listened to the whole CD in a long time. I agree that several of the tracks are a bit bland and sound like Prince is going throught the motions.

The only song I constantly go back to is Illusion, Coma, Pimp & Circumstance which is my favourite track from the Musicology, 3121 and Planet Earth sequence of albums .

Last week. Still a masterpiece.

I wanna be loved to the 9s, so let me cover your ass with this sheet, and baby, you better stay on the beat! Cause you know the Karma Sutra? I can rewrite it. But, with half as many words.

The whole thing? Honestly, I don't remember. I think it was in 2006, while I was still in the midst of 3121-fever. lol I used to play it all the time in 2004-2005. I still think it's a pretty good CD but it is bland in certain areas. I'm not a fan of On The Couch or Life O the Party, even though if I play the whole CD, I won't press the skip button. I like the song but I hated how "If I Was The Man In U're Life" ended. That jazzy ending messed up the song for me. But the song "Musicology", "A Million Days", "Call My Name", "Cinnamon Girl", "What Do U Want Me 2 Do?" and "Reflection" makes the CD totally worthwhile. That was a fun period too. Those Musicology shows were just fun, fun and more FUN! I made friends from that tour that are still close to me to this day. The tour and the CD were the best things that happened to me in 2004.

Prince.org is a cemetery where folks mourn Prince instead of celebrate him and his music. Last time I checked, Prince isn't dead yet.

the 1st half of the Musicology album is actually not bad,

"Musicology"
"Illusion, Coma, Pimp & Circumstance"
"A Million Days"
"Call My Name"
"Cinnamon Girl"
"What Do U Want Me 2 Do?"

these are better than anything on 3121 and Planet Earth cool

No i agree. It was a good time to be a Prince fan. I went to 4 shows in the NY area and each time went with a different set of friends.

He really needs to tour on that scale again. No more of this exclusive $1000 small club crap.

but i agree it does feel a little bland at times...however even if it was the worst album ever made...it ends with one of his most beautiful stripped down songs.

2006. I agree. It is bland in certain parts. A live album like the One Nite Alone thingy would have been superb.

I downloaded it when it was released. listened twice. Never listened again. Just bought the physical CD last year. Opened it, never played it. Don't have any plans to either.

According to iTunes, as a whole, last November lol

Right now I'm finishing with prince, might move on to The Undertaker and then Come to begin the "SLAVE" era razz

Compared to a lot of the garbage people my age listen to, I'll take Musicology any day. I'll say that much lol

Not for a year or two. I can't recall. I know that a few months back I had decided to listen through it again, but I got bored really quickly and switched over to SOTT.

No genuine sense of confidence, bland production, a lack of reverb, forgettable hooks, and pedestrian lyrics. Almost nothing memorably good or bad on the whole thing. Just plain all around.

A lack of reverb? That's your criteria for a bad album? Guess you must hate Kiss then, huh?

Not that I disagree. Although I did listen it to around Christmas last year and I enjoyed it more than remember, it's not a great album.

lol Please. I listed four serious grievances, and yet you focus on that one?

I listened 2 'Musicology' a couple of weeks ago and this week. There are some great songs on this album; "Musicology" , "Illusion, Coma, Pimp & Circumstance", What Do U Want Me 2 Do?" "The Marrying Kind", "If Eye Was The Man In Ur Life" and "On The Couch". All great tracks!!! I love them and when I listened 2 the album I wondered how P went from Musicology funk like "Illusion, Coma, Pimp & Circumstance" to the 'funk' (if u can call it that) of "Never Be Another Like Me" and "Box Of Chocolates". Didn't the Linn drums sound soooo much better on songs like "1999" and "Lady Cab Driver"?

Don't u want to come , 3121. It's gonna be so much fun, 3121. That's where the party be, 3121. Y'all can come if u want to, but u can never leave!
