no matter what this man does the people on this site are just not pleased.when it was looking that he would debut at number 1 assholes on here were not happy.even though he debuted at a very very respectable number 2 assholes had shit to say.he makes a good video and id be damn if assholes on here were not happy.but if he just filmed a shoot with him and the band (like most of his vids)assholes would be complaining that he dont make real videos.im guessing that he reads the boards on here because the assholes on here were complaining that he dont make rock lps or music that brings back his golden era.well with this new lp he did just that,lotusflow3r is a rock lp and mplsound brings back hs golden era sound and wouldnt you know it assholes complained.i think this site should be shut down and be relaunched as fuckprince.org because thats the attitude most of you have on here.not saying that we have to like everything he does.of course we dont .but man can we get something positive posted on this site.

Why get yourself upset over other peoples opinions? Those of us that really like Prince and his music have learned to just ignore or disagree and move on. I think Prince has a laugh at these clowns, He's been doing his thing for a very long time, longer than a lot of the haters have been ALIVE. He's used to it, he's always been different and some like it and some don't. I say dig the ones that do and to hell with the ones that don't. Nice to meet you:). I think what it comes down to is the guy has so many styles of music. That he attracts so many different kind of music lovers. They're several fans on here who HATE all r&b music, but their Prince fans. It's kind of the making of Prince's own genius

Everyone has an opinion and is free to say whatever they please.

The internet means that people can express an opinion anonymously. This is something everyone has the right to do. The difference between the internet and the real world is obvious to me.

Many people (wrongly in my view) treat Prince in the same way they treat their favourite sports team or religion - too seriously. To extend this metaphor, if, as an aethist, I were to walk into my local mosque and say that I think the Muslim religion is fundamentally (no pun intended) flawed I would expect some sort of reaction from the regulars. In fact, thinking about it, I just wouldn’t do it unless invited to do so - each to their own.

Likewise, if, in my view, my local football team were playing well and someone in the crowd stood up and started saying that he was never coming back to watch this rubbish and things are not like they used to be, and then I saw them week after week saying the same thing I might say something. This doesnt take away the person's right to moan but if you sit next to someone who always moans you soon change your seat.

It’s the same at the org. In my opinion, most people in here visit the site because they love Prince. The internet is too big a place to keep coming back here if you hate the guy. (Thinking about it, maybe I will set up an AntiPrince.org site.)

Personally, I wouldn’t come in here and say that he hasn’t written a decent hit since the 80s or be consistently negative because I know it will piss people off. Some people in this world like pissing people off or find that being negative all the time gets them the attention they crave. Its a lot easier on the Internet than in the world outside.

I think it's because Prince stirs up that kind of reaction. There is hardly anyone without an opinion on the man-hence why his sales aren't huge. He creates opinion at either end of the spectrum. Someone either buys an album of his coz they have bought in to him or they just completely dismiss him.

However I think it's because people pin a lot on to Prince. Critics and fans know that he is incomparable or even slightly alien in some respects so there is always a heightened sense of expectation, where this occurs I think people can get a bit over emmotive. If Prince pulled off the most extraordinary album now however I don't think we would really recognise it, as Prince has become a victim of his own creation. Even to constantly create unusual music becomes a non unique experience-so unfortunately for Prince he probably can't win

1) Not everyone here blindly worships Prince and everything he does. WE are his critics, not Nelson George. Not Alan Light. WE are. We accept his genius, but we also hold him to a high standard, one that he created for himself. A lot of folks here are musicians, song writers, and singers. And although they (we) may never reach the heights Prince has, (or even Andre Cymone LOL), we understand music. We know what sounds good, as well, just as Prince does. Sure Prince's albums are produced well, but even with great production, a shit song is a shit song.

2) We have a right to not like something. All that glitters, ain't gold.

3) Lotus is not a rock album. The Gold Experience is one, and even Chaos in parts. Lotus is heavy on guitar on the guitar heavy songs. But when you put breezy jazz instrumentals and fluff in between, it becomes NOT a guitar album in full.

4) MPLSound is not the golden age. There's no way a song like "Chocolate Box" or whatever against a gem like "Strange Relationship", "Dorothy Parker", "Sometimes It Snows In April" (You can hear the fucking stools squeak for fuck's sake..THAT is raw and real), or the long-suffered "When Doves Cry". SOmeone made the point that Prince pulling out the Linn and using a Camille voice doesn't mean he's suddenly rerecording 1987.

5) You're welcome to head elsewhere on the web, as well. Maybe something more ass-kissy, perhaps?

6) Why do you care what others think? Most here are not haters. People have brains and use them, even with all things Prince. He's not the golden boy anymore. He hasn't been for quite a while.

I was one of the biggest cheerleaders when the new tracks leaked (colonized mind, wall of berlin, forever) and this album had a lot of potential with those as the leaders but this aint no golden age shit, it's just for the most part tired and pointless. You can't trick a 30 year fan.
