Prince - Gold (song)

Has it ever been performed live? I only listened to the gold experience for the first time today.

He performed mostly stuff from Come, The Gold Experience, and Exodus, and that era, during that time, and he was not playing any "Prince" material. he often chanted "Prince is dead" in concert. But most boots I've heard from that era, he's played it. It's a great song.

I try not to heavily compare albums, but I always though The Gold Experience was really the Purple Rain of the 90's. For those Top 40 listeners who only knew him for "When Doves Cry" or "Kiss", the Gold Experience would have been a perfect "Purple Rain part ii" for them. Of course for the rest of us, we know all the stuff inbetween.

It's not that bad. But it definitely wasn't the Purple Rain wannabe that he wanted it to become.

He performed a few Prince songs, but they weren't hits by any means. Vicki Waiting and Pink Cashmere come to mind.

yes and "7" too if I remember right.....

I saw the Gold Experience tour in Den Bosch Holland back in early '95, imo.... a truly great show full of surprises/ lots of new songs, the peak was the encore with Get Wild and Gold... while playing Gold it was of course raining gold confetti,

what a great show, one of his best tours imo.

Yeah, his fans. His pearls are his songs and his "graciousness" at the Celebrations.

does anyone not remember Prince dissing fans in one of the NPGMC Ahdio Shows? Femi Jiya was talking about how people were complaining that the shows were less than an hour long. They complained to NPGMC. If you add up all the missed times in those 11 shows (one was the release of the Rainbow children), it totals to right about an hour of lost time. Prince had Femi mock the fans.

GHeez, that could be another whole thread, right?!

I would prefer to eat an old pigs vomit than listen to Gold.
Even The morning after is better than the song Gold.
.
Forget pearls and swines

in the words of Prince [Ol' School Company]...

this my song! woot! excited cloud9

I chose it as my absolute favorite a month after I joined this place.
Heard it while watching, at someone's suggestion, "Love 4 One Another." This was the last song performed... the only one there that made an impact on me and it was just... the ultimate eek

The whole reason I got the album was to have this song giggle
had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

I actually don't mind it either, I was just teasing him. I've always loved Gold.
