Put the target on my chest... I dig 'Love Like Jazz'!!

It's Saturday morning in my neck of the woods and I've got a playlist of all my 2000 era P cuts plus some select older gems on shuffle.

Love Like Jazz comes on and I didn't register the intro at first but it made me pause...it was just so ...'pleasantly sexy'. The verses had me thinkin of this one partner who was uniquely fun to 'improvise with' on a morning after kinda vibe. You know, when you've had the madsexy theatrics, roundtrip flights with multiple arrivals, been to sleep and now it's morning. Just the right kinda bright outside so that the curtains keep things nice... your already intertwined as you awaken and you stumble upon a new angle ...and another...and smile yeah.. boff

Now I'm gonna go see how to interpret it on a stroll thru the park

"Hey baby what's your name? Do you want to play a game?" fro

And to think people say Prince can't write a lyric anymore.
No hard feelings.

lol... the lyric rides the VIBE so well to me, I don't understand the criticism I've read so far. I could quote every part and go "see that right there?!?"

...i don't wanna know ahead of time
the note you play should be in reaction 2 mine
nothin planned or contrived...

is love like the jazz the one that starts out sounding like the theme song from "growing pains"? i know there's a song on the lotusflower disc that sounds like that theme song, i just can't remember which one.

I like this song too, you can put the target away, it's not needed. giggle I love how this song starts out. For some reason, it reminds me of a 60's song. It's got that same poppy, light-hearted feeling. Love it!

i dig it too, but i'm not sure it fits on this album. either of them, actually. even FB,FG,FW and $ sound less out of place on LF than Love Like Jazz.

I like the lyrical story that "Love Like Jazz" tells, but the music (in paticular the "Growing Pains"-esque riff) irks me for some reason...

lol I do hear some similarities in the "Growing Pains" theme song and "Love Like Jazz". lol Makes you wonder if Prince wasn't watching reruns of this show and that's how the song came to be. lol

It's a great song. I think what I like about it is that it has a very clean sound w/ lots of intricate little sounds thrown in. The guitar is great in it, not rock but still some good licks & smooth too. The vocals do get a little old for me especially @ the end but that doesn't bother me as much.
