Well look at this .....HMV has it in their top 20 Best Sellers in the UK and it's not even had any promo over here plus our price is sky high ....Prince's people made a mistake not pushing it in Europe after 21 Nights... biggrin

When I went to Target on Sunday, there were 2 areas in the special area for Lotus that were empty. That was very encouraging. One of my buddies called me last night and told me that he went to Target and picked up Lotusflow3r. I was too excited about that! One of my best friends is going to pick up the CD tomorrow. Its exciting to know that people are buying this CD. It's worth the money. biggrin

I`m from the UK & i`ve orgered a copy thru ebay & i know of others who have done the same.I joined Lotusflow3r but wanted a physical copy also. This album IMO is excellent & deserves 2 be a `hit`.However I dont think enough promotion has been done in the US & 2 only be able 2 buy the album via mail order in the UK from one retailer has ruined the release here.In fact outside of the US the album is almost a non-release! Is this because Prince anticipated that thousands of casual fans would join his fan club? If so it seems a massive miscalculation. There has been no promotion in the UK whatsoever which even 4 Prince must be a record.
Being a Prince continues 2 be so frustrating when superb albums like this sink without a trace.Obviously there is time 2 turn it around but I cant see that happening!

Hold On 2 Ur Wigs!!

The momentum won't last after the first week without good promotion. I think Prince should release the "Crimson and Clover" and "Chocolate Box" videos on YouTube. Videos are meant to be promotional, and locking them behind a $77 pay to view Web site does the promotion a disservice.

There were still a billion copies today when I got mine and I didn't see a line or anybody even slowing down and take a look at Prince's new creation.
I think this is another album for the hardcore fans.
Mainstream America has put Prince to rest a long long time ago, but I don't think he cares. He makes music to mainly please himself and the fans who adore him no matter what.

I think Prince still could be hip to Mainstream America with some serious promotion and business. But maybe he donĀ“t want that...

I double agree. He doesn't have radio, MTV, nor BET, for that matter. You-Tube may turn out to be one of P's best friends in terms of marketing and promotion. Most folks r on the Internet anyway! cool

It really depends on your area, here when i went Target, good luck finding one in NYC, i went in the late afternoon and i think i bought the first one, the place was empty, but then again i went into Brooklyn for it and Prince aint got no love here, and not much more in NYC, his base here is dieing off big time, I think most will order online or just download it from the site, doesnt matter the check is in the bank already.

I know people will go nuts about hearing his popularity is down in NYC, but sorry, it is. And ive been going to all the gigs here in NYC, never missed one, and he really has isolated himself to places like LA and Vegas, which is alright if your Manilow or Celine or Elton with a huge fan base, but Prince has a very different following and its been greatly reduced.

I went to a Target in Brooklyn and it was selling. There was a part of the section that didn't have any Lotusflow3r CD's. I think you're exaggerating a bit on that.

I agree. I live in Brooklyn not too far from a Target and the album seemed to be selling just fine when I went to buy my copy. I didn't see empty shelves or anything. Of course I don't know for sure how well it's selling, but it seemed to be doing pretty decent. I don't think you can say that Prince doesn't get any love here in NYC either based on album sales. His music gets played on the radio here often and and I bet if he played here in NYC again soon, the show would sell out. We definitely have love here in NYC for Prince so i'm not even tryna hear that lol.

Well, AC/DC hadn't released an album in eight years before releasing Black Ice exclusively at Walmart, and it sold 700,000 copies in the first week.

See, shit like this is why I couldn't care less about numbers. The fact that that many people would by an AC/DC album is pretty sad. barf

I'm with you on that. Prince always sells out here and will continue to because he still has a large fanbase here. It's all about letting people know that the product exists and then people can get it. Not just here in NYC but everywhere.

I work at a music store... not a Target, mind you... and we went and bought a number of copies from Target (2 hours away in a bigger city). We bought about 75 and have sold around half of those since Monday in a town in the middle of Oklahoma... it's selling well here, not great, but it is doing okay.

I think he'll crack the top 10. Album sales are so slow it doesn't take much. Regardless, he is simply going to have to promote these if he wants them to sell past the first month or so...

I would have no idea. There are Targets all over the place around here. But the one I went to had them put in an easy to see place, right in front of the cashier too, almost like they're keeping an eye on them.

I think it was a good idea to sell the CD's exclusively at Target. It's a very popular store here. Many people that aren't really into Prince might pick it up because they get 3 CD's for 12 bucks, which is a bargain. Brilliant... cool

Was in the mall, decided to stop at Target to see the display with my sister and niece. They have quite a number of them left.

I bought a copy, even though I ordered one from Target by mail, but it won't arrive until sometime next week. I also downloaded from the site as a member. More than likely the other one I ordered will go to my sister, as her and her daughter (which I was surprised my niece is now a Prince fan) stated that if Prince has a concert they definitely want to go. So since, it just came out less than 3 days ago, I say give it some time. I've noticed the commercial has been playing a lot.
