I guess they just don't get Prince's music like we do. . I remembered in the Philippines where I'm originally from, back in the 80s when Purple Rain came out, I hardly knew anybody who was a Prince fan ( new wave acts like Duran Duran and Depeche Mode were more popular) and the movie Purple Rain didn't do well (there were only a handful of people at the theaters when I saw it).
