There isn't a hit on any of those 3 records. Trust me. I'm not saying that he needs to write top 40 music. Gross. His music is just dumb. It's boring. Uninspiring. The lyrics are hideous. So hilariously lame.

You're right. Clearly what it takes to have a hit these days is inspired music with thoughtful lyrics... confused

.....Womanizer, Woman-Womanizer
You're a womanizer,
Oh womanizer, Oh you're a womanizer, baby
You, you, you are
You, you, you are
Womanizer, womanizer, womanizer

Again, I have to agree. I honestly don't think Prince is capable of writing something like that. boogie

Whenever the topic of Prince having a 'hit single' comes up the prince.org'ers always bring up that Prince would need to sound like Britney .... why??

Here's a few great hit singles of 2008 that were played non-stop.

Duffy – 'Mercy'
Sam Sparrow – 'Black And Gold'
Adele – 'Chasing Pavements'
Estelle feat. Kanye West – 'American Boy'
Amy Winehouse - Rehab

You people wouldn't know good music if it slapped you in the face. Always complaining that something isn't good enough. I don't see any of you that are saying these albums are bad putting anything on a disc and trying to sell it. I have been a Prince fam for over 30 years now and feel that these albums are excellent. IDIOTS mad

Every song on MPLSOUND, except no more candy for you could be a hit if it had a support from the industry. So it is really a dumb question, there is no such thing as "sound like a hit". There is "marketed as a hit"

Well said.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

so there we have it.....seems to be a lot of love for these songs

i only picked them because they seemed to be the most radio friendly

then again, radio sucks so what would they know - right?

there is a part in Valentina that I really hate - so Dance 4 Me gets my vote

well if only 2 songs can be hits, what does it say about the other tracks on the albums?

Does'nt say much...A hit song doesn't necessarily mean it's a good one. Most good music these days never make it to the radio.

Sadder still is that some people would support it if they thought it would get Prince back in the charts.

I think Dance 4 Me is nearly perfect, in the best way. So - yeah - the public should hear that one song before anything else on the new cd set. It makes me dance to and I think it could make anyone dance. Honestly if Justin Timberlake did these 2 songs - he would be on the charts right now.

I LOVE Valentina! I know it's a bit weird that he's telling a 2 year old to tell her mamma to give him a call...but...once again Prince is able to say it in a way it doesn't offend. well...least to me.
It's sooo catchy and fun. I love it!

Oh make no mistake, it is not lost on some of us that Prince is begging a 18 month old baby to fascillitate a hook up with her mom! falloff

I've been trying to get into Valentina, but it doesn't do anything for me. It's an ok song, but definitely not something you would hear on the radio.

There's not enough money in the world to market Dance 4 Me into being a hit unless there's a separate chart for songs listened to by 40 year-old weak-in-the-knees females. razz

Even by pop radio standards, the lyrics are just too obvious and lazy.

Valentina is so underrated , once you get past the corny lyrics there's loads of interesting things going on musically. When I hear the chrus the music makes me feel like OMG this song is epic.

I thought I was the only one that was creeped out. I know he doesn't mean it in that context, but it is the vocal delivery that creeps me out.

Give the music a chance to grow on you. Can't expect to like it right away.

First, to mschirmer, while yer absolutely right, unfortuneately those are the type of lyrics you'll here on todays "hits". Which is what (I think) Supa is grinding at.

Secondly, to l4u, I'm curious to know why you wrote that. Is it you've ALWAYS felt that Prince's music had to grow on you? Or is it just as of late? If it's the former, that's a shame, because I remember the time when every new Prince song had me actin' a fool. On first listen.

That said, I think "Dance 4 Me" is the best cut on that disc.

For whatever that's worth.

Personally i think '$' might be a possible hit. It has that kind of quirky, offbeat sound that makes you think: Hey, this is fresh, different.

When I listen to it, it brings images to mind of the 'Hey Ya' video by Outkast, but then in black-white: lots of dancers, retro-styled clothing, big beehives, goofy.
