I like everything I've heard on the site so far. I expected Prince's stuff to be excellent and I'm pleasantly pleased that Bria's work sounds really nice too.

I'll be the last chance Charlie of the org, my hard drive doesn't have enough space for another download so I'll be eagerly waiting for Sunday and the Target sale. I've heard nothing from either album, therefore my opinion is meaningless. EXPENSIVE SHIT

MPLS SOUND, IMO is his best work since SOTT. A few tracks left off which should be on MPLS like: F.U.N.K and Turn Me Loose would have been great additions but as it stands its a classic. Dance 4 me - Valentina - Chocolate Box - No More Candy 4 U,...instant classics! Lotus Flower is a mess in terms of track listings....I like some songs alot and others I hate, there isnt any in between songs. Love-hate album...should have been edited more, IMO. MPLS Sound 4.5 Stars out of 5 Lotus Flower 3 Stars out of 5 GMAN

There's just something seriously lacking from MPLSoUND and LOTuSFLOW3R. I'm hoping it will just all take a while to grow on me, but so far it's a little worse than I had anticipated. Sorry to be negative. Don't be sorry, it's ok to be wrong, what is really wrong is to be ok with being wrong. So think about that!

Lovesexy Black Album The Truth Exodus TRC Don't get me wrong, it's a very strong album but there's a slight unevenness about it. He's almost saying "see, I can do this whenever I want." But growth in the actual Minneapolis Sound, not really. No More Candy is killer, as well as Dance 4 u and a few others. Chocolate Box goes on a bit too long but is a great track. I hope it gets a lot of mileage. Not sure about Qs rap.

It will definetly grow on you.

I'm disappointed on the first couple of listens. He sounds stuck in the mid-1990s and some of it sounds very dated and plodding, especially MPLSound.

I definitely am!! MPLSound sounds extremely contrived, and they almost all have the same Linn drum beat. He thinks that if he adds that sound to the song, it'll automatically make it funky. There's barely any variation of it!! He even added it to U R Gonna C Me, and it sounds awful. The Minneapolis Sound was about more than just that drum machine. It was about those grooving synts, walking bass lines, and MELODY!!!!! He should've put F.U.N.K. on here, as it was closest thing he's made to that "sound" in about damn near 20 years! I kept skipping tracks, hoping to find one that stood out, but most of it was mish mesh. There are a couple that are okay, but that's about it, and I can't even state which ones because they all pretty much run together.

Sorry to be negative. I'm not disappointed. I didn't expect much and in some ways the records are better than I expected. I'm waiting until Sunday to get the Target release. I'll make up my mind at that point. I'm beginning to wonder though which 3 disc Prince album is the worst.

its all so sad. boo hoo. Its a mis-mash. purple rain was better. Folks if prince can't satisfy your desires move on u sad sacks..

lotusflow3r is his best work this decade. it sounds like his modern day solo Dream Factory.

I'm not disappointed at all - - pleasantly surprised is more like it. The combination of LF/MS is the best record he's released this decade by a wide margin, IMHO.

Just give it up. You'll never find anything he makes enjoyable again. Just accept that the ride for you is over. Just retire to the comfort of your old CDs and let it go. I expected that many would love one album and hate the other.. and a few would love them both. Heck... some people actually are digging Bria's album. He pretty much gave the fans what they have been asking for... half of us have been starving for some serious head bobbing funk.. the others wanted a rock album..... and we got them. And collectively they are very...VERY good. I'm not into Lotusflow3r that much though it does have some strong moments for me. But MPLSound...? I haven't been into an album so much this early since 'The Gold Experience' I'm not expecting everyone to be bowing down at either album.... but to be 'disappointed'... not hearing anything of merit...? Then you just won't enjoy anything he ever does again... period.. IMO People Call me Rude

It would have been hot. i bet that some people will be giving the 2 albums what i call "the emancipation treatment" combining their fave tracks of the albums and burning them to one CD-R, then going along with that. as far as disappointment, i'm not disappointed at all. i didn't have any hopes or expectations for the album, so i'm still floating along with the same feeling i had after listening to planet urf and 3121: "alright. next!" IMO Yes! truer words were never spoken. we have several folks who need to get off the purple bus because they don't like where it is going. And have been complaining for the last 2000 miles or so. It gets so old. If they could find something to cheer about instead of boo about they would make this a better place. Its alright to have negative comments..sometimes, but some people do it constantly.

I expected both albums to be totally different. I had no expectations at all...i didnt expect him to do Purple Rain 2, I didnt expect him to blow my mind...either I like it or I dont..whatever...

I was not a 3121 album lover til "The Dance" came on & Fury had already been unleashed on SNL,but after a while it grew on me & although I don't spin it on the reg it still was a good release IMO. This may take a week or two to digest fully. MPLSoUND really leading the way right now! Dreamer from LotusFlower is what i'm feeling!

Agreed, Lotus is a stunning album and sooooo much better than Musicology, 3121 and Planet Earth... Even MPLSound is better, Just keep Listening!!! I'm crazy for coco rock

After Planet Earth? I'm not disappointed at all. I love Lotus Flower. It's his best work since Musicology and Musicology was awesome IMO. MPLsound is not great, but solid. Despite some of the reviews, I was pleasantly surprised by Elixir. Overall..... CALL ME A DREAMER 2!
