i for one am very excited to hear weird mumbling, random atmospherics, dissonant touches and an unnecessary cover of "Crimson and Clover".

Exactly. Prince.org is a cemetery where folks mourn Prince instead of celebrate him and his music. Last time I checked, Prince isn't dead yet.

It debuted at #12 on the pop charts and went no further than that in 1995. Sad but true. Prince.org is a cemetery where folks mourn Prince instead of celebrate him and his music. Last time I checked, Prince isn't dead yet.

Me too. I actually like the self-indulgent, atmospheric type stuff, something that the last few albums haven't had much of. [Edited 3/20/09 9:13am] Prince.org is a cemetery where folks mourn Prince instead of celebrate him and his music. Last time I checked, Prince isn't dead yet.

i'm still excited about it. the reviewer sounds like he has a chip on his shoulder. he could have mentioned how 3121 was no. 1 when that was released ... actually, you posted your thread four minutes AFTER this one was posted. e for effort though .

[Edited 3/20/09 9:09am] he lost all credibility at the rainbow children dislike...never mind the rest of your points. when he was criticising lotus, that sounded more like positives then negatives! only WE can review the set fairly. critics have no idea about music...they cant do it, so they choose to criticise others who can. whats more, ive liked all of what ive heard from elixer so far so, already i don't think i will agree at all with this. A BETTER NEWS FLASH: those who loved the rainbow children are going to absolutely love this! but, we got extra too. yep, still think this will be his best since The rainbow children (dont forget, that album was poorly reviewed) [Edited 3/20/09 9:27am]

On the other hand, even the most diehard fans might fear there's some truth in the text. Let's hope for the best, and fear the worst. exactly. these are the reflections of an "average joe" listener of music. he's not fammy mcfammkins, and he's not a self-professed hater of all things prince. while he might be missing out on details that would make fans go ga-ga, at the same time it's kinda refreshing to see comments of the album by someone who hasn't memorized every page of "the vault" and who hasn't seen graffiti bridge 100 times. that said, i'm not gonna let this review dampen my excitement of hearing the music with my own ears on tuesday.

this is what most people will think about the new album. and where did the reviewer say he didn't like TRC? he mentioned that people who UNDERSTOOD the ramblings on that album might be able to translate the ramblings in THIS ONE. but this isn't reality. it's the Org. and the purple sheep will lap up Prince's garbage and pretend it's the finest wine in the history of mankind. I for one, am not expecting much from the new release. he's released mostly garbage for at least 10 years or so, not counting TRC. Don't let the door hit you on your way out.

It's just a damn shame that there wasn't anymore hits from that era or even after that. That's for another thread I guess. Well I understood the music of the rainbow children, don't care about the lyrics, if it's going to be like trc, i'll be very happy
