If it is helping him become a better individual... I don't see the problem.

Obviously he needs a divine force in his life.

Although I don't share the same beliefs, back in the day I could interpret the lyrics in a different way to still identify myself with them, but nowadays he sometimes seems to be too narrow minded. I don't blame beliefs, I blame intolerance. I still dig his music, but I hope he feels free and safe enough to step away from the JWs and move on, knowing his fans and his god support him in every single way anyway, whether he is pro gay marriage or not, whether he swears in his songs or not, whether he's a JW or not.

Good luck to him.

i can understand prince searching for a higher meaning to life ...to have as much talent as he has , it must be even harder to accept that this life is all we have and we must make the most of it....i think he is misguided to believe in what he believes in but i can understand why he wants to believe in it.....
but i think he is wrong and all religion is nothing more than made up stories to try and help mankind with mortality....i think most intelligent level minded people think this as well....this life is all we have.....you have made a lot of people very happy in this life with your gift , prince , ....that isnt a bad way to have spend your life doing, is it ? biggrin

Then don't listen to the songs that have anything to do with God. He's not going to change for you, for me or for anyone in here. He's living his life just like you are living yours. It's that simple.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

So...as an artist, he's supposed to be about pleasing you? Boy, are you naive! falloff
We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Then spend it there. And don't expect Prince to care.

I could not have said it better myself. If you find solice in religion, more power to you. But if you use your bible as a shield to fend off things you don't understand then that is just ingornace. I have seen this done so many times here. Especially the whole debate about gay marriage. The funniest qoute was "I have gay friends but I don't agree with their lifestyle". You must not think much of your friends or value true friendship.

i'm not into religion at all but there seems to be an atheist vibe on the Org. I just believe since Prince is an artist with a diverse following he should keep his religion to himself. shrug

not necessarily true. I have friends that are doing things I don't approve of, but i dont' hate them or devalue my friendship with them.

I've noticed that lately. Very...interesting, considering that God has ALWAYS been a part of his music, whether it felt like he was forcing the issue or not.

For those reasons, I agree with you 100%.

I don't know, there seems to be a good number of believers too. What might be more accurate, is to say, there is a big anti-jw vibe on the org.

Hopefully he will leave the JW at some point. I love his music and even though I would prefer that he didn't make religious songs I have no major issue with them. I can listen to the religious songs because of their musical merits, not the lyrics. Colonized Mind for instance is a very good song musically.

Exactly. Although it still was easier to identify with his lyrics too, back in the day, when his god wasn't someone who'll struck his enemies dead and send all the non-believer to hell, but when his god was love, sex, freedom and trust.
