there a few more. PrinceĀ“s cover albums used to be so great. With the money he has, he surely could hire some talented designers for a change.

I am sure there will be great music in the new album though wink

I go for the Black Album, but seriously, the Hologram on D&P was good for its time.

Better than the Black Album. In fact with the recent site update I thought that's what we might get. Ouch.

Bugger. Just read the above post after I'd posted.

Anybody read the comments on Dr FB's site in response to the cover? Come on, which one of you loonies wrote it?

It may take all sorts to make the world go around but why are there the few that make it go from side to side and in and out?

I like the cover and only hope he releases it on vinyl too. Nothing like a piece of quality vinyl with a great piece of work on the front. Of course for all you digital purchasers you probably aren't even bothered by the cover as you'll never see it any bigger than a postage stamp anyway.

Off topic but... all this New Age/Old Age stuff about chakras? Do you guys believe in it? More so, for the ones that do, do you think Prince does? Do JWs believe in all this? My sister is evangelical (I think) and I'm not so sure her church/clan would agree with it as it all seems a bit ungodly to me.

Admittedly I know nothing about it, nor do I intend to, (and it's each to their own) but is there any Christian link to it all or is Prince unwittingly symbolising them? Whatever they are.

nice cover, but they could have slicked it up a bit and pulled it
a lot tighter than simply a close up of the website with a font.

1. take off the pyramid on the left, it unbalances the whole picture

2. stretch the mpls skyline to be the entire backdrop left and right

3. write the name of the album in the same font as the "prince" font
but smaller and do it so that it fits under his name from side 2 side.

4. ditch the purple 3 in the albumname
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I love Prince's guady new age style.

It needs a topless female warrior and a lion in gold armour fighting a dragon to top it off.

I find this thread funny. We've seen this picture for over a month. The only differences are the addition of his name and the album title. So nothing really new.

And still there is a discussion going on about it. 5 pages with references to other artists' albums and Prince's previous album artwork. (And with many people mentioning how ugly the new album cover is) wink

I think it's a beautiful cover. Unfortunately, I think some people think it's just hip to complain. Either that, or being critical makes them feel superior. I'm not directing my opinion at any particular individual (I respect all my fellow Orgers), but it just seems to me that before Prince can even release something there's an entire mob of folks that have already trashed it. neutral How hard is it to just enjoy something for what it is?

I thought the whole point of forums was to vent your opinions. Prince will do what he wants regardless, but surely folks can express their opinion on something without it being a constant lovefest smile

Prince is aware of the chakras.

No.

Yes there is Biblical support to reaching higher states of consciousness which are experienced through the opening of the chakras, and Prince never does anything "unwittingly" or without conscious knowledge of what he is "putting out there".

Ooh, thanks for the answer. Not very often we get one broken down like that.

Ungodly? I meant more unGodly, with the emphasis on the Christian god. Just thought that Christians wouldn't agree with New Age type stuff or pre-Christianity malarky. Once again I must add that having never studied any of this stuff my understanding is minimal.

I absolutely believe in the chakra system that we all have and i believe Prince does and indeed practices and uses these. I do to and its made a huge difference to my life. I actually think Prince is very awake spiritually and is aware of what is going on in the world with peoples consciousness and has been for most of his life(i think its how he taps into his talent). Also if this is the case with Prince then it contradicts the Jehovahs Witness doctrine, this stuff isn't allowed at all, its seen as supernatural and dabbling with demons. same with the Christian view(I have several JW friends and a Christian who owns a book store and they often tell me i'm tapping into evil dimensions by developing my chakras.) Which leads me to think Prince is no longer a Jehovahs Witness. Maybe he's evolved beyond it?

As for the cover. I love the font of his name. The rest is a little too hi-res photoshop like. The cover is like one off a Philip K Dick novel.

Great album cover. It relays a path... inter-connectivity... but is also iconic. Interestingly, it reminds me a bit of my favourite Santana album... 'Lotus'.

I also like the fonts.

I guess it depends upon how one "interprets" what they read in the Bible. Most so-called Christians that I know would disagree with any type of acknowledgement in the Bible towards more esoteric teachings. In fact, I would be termed heretical more than likely. However, if one reads Revelation of the Bible, there are many points of reference there for more esoteric teachings. For example Revelation 1:10 John says "I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet," "I was in the Spirit..." means that one is in a deeper state of consciousness. "....a trumpet" each chakra has a sound that is associated with it. "...heard behind me" would be an inner sound.
