i feel Prince is just in it now 4 the $$$, not like the old days where u could c his passion 4 the music. thats why he's so possesive of his music and image, (e.g youtube) he wants every cent 2 himself. fair enough 4 a artist 2 own their own music, but it seems he if cant make a buck out of it he doesnt want us 2 c or hear it

That doesn't make sense, we've had a few songs available recently that we haven't had to pay for. He could have charged more than £31.21 for 21 nights shows. And if he was really just about the $$'s, then surely he wouldn't sit on all the vault tracks that the fans would lap up?

Of course he wants to make money, why wouldn't he? But to say that's all he's interested in, just seems to make no sense to me.

I agree with English Gent. If Prince was in it just for the money, would he not be striving for a US No.1 or UK No.1 ? If he was in it just for the money, why give away planet Earth album at the 21 Nights concerts and also to a National Newspaper for free?

Warner Bros gave him his break...but none of us know what restictions they put on his music or his earnings. They may have even had a say as to which songs he could choose to sing a concerts, who knows!

Now that Prince is free from them he has learn't that as a musician he should have full control of his music! And why not!

But giving away your albums, offering free downloads and charging extremely low ticket prices ain't the sign of a money grabber to me.

I think Prince lives for his music no matter what but he is like every other "business" he is in it for the $$$ too. He can't live on fresh air.

What makes anyone here think that he wasn't in it for the money back in that "glorious" decade called the 80's? Because biographies about him in 1985 didn't say so? He must want something to come out of his music financially or else why would he be in the music industry in the first place? If he was JUST about music, then I'm sure he'd be content performing his stuff in subway stations and calling it a day.

I feel that if you have the gift of music and the talent to make that music come alive, then why not make as much money off of it as you can. Prince deserves his money because he's been blessed with all of those things. I'm just glad that he's not like many artists who had the gift and the talent but wound up becoming bankrupt (I know he was close to that in the past) or dying broke. No matter what happens, the man will ALWAYS get his money and he should. With that said, if it was all about money, and it's been said before, why would he have ticket prices that were "cheap" for an artist of his calibre? Why would he give away CD's, either in concerts or in newspapers? He's not Madonna and we should be gratful for that. He loves music, obviously but he's like you and me in that he wants to get paid for the work that he's done. I don't see anything wrong with that one bit. I better not cause I'm at work typing this out right now.

No, he's not in it for the money....He has enough money. He gives plenty to Charity. He'd sign with Record Companies and all if he was sooo into the money. But to be fair he needs to make money.

I'd say part of him likes the money and certainly he does try to get the most out of a distribution deal as he can. The game has changed and he knows this. Since he's not getting music out there on the radio or in the stores really, he's not seeing that much in that respect. He is usually looking at the bottom dollar when it comes to what is owed. I think there was a day in time when he didn't think about it too much until he got into the squabble with WB.

So I think part of it is about the $$$, yet at the same time, he seems also very concerned with remaining relevant and getting his music out the for the masses.

At least when a fan gives their money to Prince...knowing that Prince will profit from it. I can believe that Prince always has good intentions with side projects for charity reasons.

Once people reach that place where they can generate more money, some excessively weathy don't contribute to balancing the economy. I believe that Prince is a smart man and that He knows how much money is not valuable enough to keep up with.

There are so many people that own homes that have never even gone to them. The government regularly taxes cigarettes, but not booze and coffee, and those are all farm based addictions, or luxuries.

The government allows future stocks to be purchased when the economy is like it is.

The condition of the world is really bad economically, and there's nothing for those in poverty to do, but wait to be rescued from their situation. It's sad.

..it is all about spending$$$ but the question is on WHO...4 every person that spends $$$ there is ALWAYS some1 there 2 recieve it..and u canNOT b stingy wit dirty$$$...
