D'Angelo is expected to collaborate with Prince on his long-awaited first new album since 2000, reportedly titled "James River" and due this summer from J Records.

In a statement, the R&B star's manager, Lindsay Guion, says D'Angelo will also team with Gnarls Barkley's Cee-Lo Green. Collaborations with Raphael Saadiq, Mark Ronson and Roy Hargrove are already in the bag,

In addition, D'Angelo will play his first shows in years this summer, beginning in Europe and then taking in the United States. Cities and dates have yet to be announced.

In recent years, D'Angelo has endured a serious car accident and drug-related arrests, and in lieu of new music of his own, he's made sporadic guest appearances on albums by Common, Snoop Dogg, Q-Tip and J Dilla.

"He's able to smile again and he's ready to connect [with fans]," Guion told Billboard last summer. "He's coming back. And he looks great, by the way."

I remember reading that D'Angelo considered his second album to basically be an audition tape for Prince. Apparently it worked. Looking forward to the collaboration.

Maybe working with D'Angelo will help Prince realize it's OKAY to be sexual :p

Cause, truth is, if Prince don't wanna' bring that side, D'Angelo can fill that space right proper.

The match fits. Though after Rave, I'm very, very leery of any Prince collaborations. They don't necessarily seem like his strong suit.

I'll buy it though :p And i'll probably listen to it a thousand times before I kick the bucket

I just hope its sexy... maybe a ballad.

My favorite collab of his in recent history is still U Make My Sunshine. I also think both his song with Gwen & the song he wrote for No Doubt were also decent efforts.

So Far, So Pleased just doesn't do it for me. I'm not sure why. It seems to be missing something deeper - maybe it feels to on the surface? I'm not sure. I know lots of people seem to like it though. One of their highlights from the album.

Can we agree that 'Hot Wit U?' wasn't the best collaboration? I actually don't mind his part of the song, some of the sexual imagery is actually rather nice:



But Eves presence in the song bothers me. I'm not a fan of Baby Knows either. I dunno why Rave doesn't do it for me. I like the odd songs on the album, like Tangerine

Well, I think if anything, the music we've been hearing from him (done for Bria) and just the sexyness of the way he still uses the Linn drum machine, I think it will still be Prince to show D'Angelo a thing or two there...
