New Album Rumor

Just heard on a local radio station here in Memphis, that Prince is supposed to drop an album tomorrow.....

I've never been one to post random nonsense. Just heard it on the radio this morning. Seriously. Again, I don't know if it's true or not but that was the conversation this morning. The radio station is WDIA.

Just hung up with Borders and they haven't heard anything about it, so maybe it is just a rumor and/or the DJ has no idea what he's talking about.

WAIT.

"Taurus" IS a Ram... His name is Taurus, but he is an Aries, like U, Tame.

So I guess I'm the only Bull in here...

Anyway... I wouldn't be at all surprised if Prince just drops a new album like that. Completely unannounced.

I don't think we'll see it tomorrow though!

Roughly the same time. I would say between 8:00 and 8:30.
I heard it on my drive to work.
The DJ was talking about the 4 songs played on the LA station last week and said that an ablum was supposed to drop tomorrow with no promotion whatsoever.

If this were 2 happen with a physical piece of media... CD or vinyl, then he would have 2 already have distribution set up, and everything would have already been "pressed", printed, etc.

I don't think that is likely. It takes a tremendous amount of secrecy 2 keep something like that quiet.

If it were a digital download, I'd be disappointed, as it wouldn't be nearly the quality of vinyl or CD. The songs we heard would just RIP on vinyl.

If you're talking about 'Planet Earth', the only thing I said is that it would divide the fans more than most Prince albums.

I have no idea why I have 2 keep on explaining 2 some here that I am in this "business" of music, and pretty deep.

I am not trying 2 get anyone's attention, and I do not make stuff up.

In fact, I know quite a bit more than U think, and I keep it 2 myself.

Why should this surprise you...this is Prince. He may do something like that. Maybe a treat for the fans. Who knows. Prince is still awesome and I love the new stuff.

Prince.org is a cemetery where folks mourn Prince instead of celebrate him and his music. Last time I checked, Prince isn't dead yet.

If it is digital, it would be great if it was available in a lossless format. I bought the new Wendy & Lisa album where you could download in .flac format - same quality as a printed CD.

Call me an audiophile snob but I don't consider the NPGMC download-only music as true albums. And let's not start on the DRM issues...

RedKite	Maybe Prince will drop a new album tomorrow. Maybe it is an experiment? Could Prince release an album on Itunes without a record company? Prince wanted to directly release an album without needing a record company so maybe that is an option. No Cds, no stores, etc. Only a download. Maybe he would have CDs made later, special fan stuff. Maybe Prince could make more money that way?

man that would be fantastic! something along the lines of the wendy and lisa
or the nine inch nails or radiohead set up.

a page where you can download the new album in several formats from mp3 to
flac and a chance to order a physical copy at the same time.

woot!

perhaps that's what the mplsound page was set up for? the song could have
been put up there simply to see if the site was up and running smoothly.

Amen to that. That's a big fear of mine with the man, especially with music like this. It needs to be heard and he'll find a way to not promote music worth promoting and promote CD that aren't worth a lot of the time he winds up giving it, even though I was down with the whole Musicology promotion. We'll have to wait and see.
