Ne-Yo: I'd love to work with Prince

Ne-Yo has revealed who he would love to work with - Prince.
The Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter admitted that working with the Purple Rain star would be a dream come true.

"I'd love to work with Prince," he revealed at the New York premiere of Cadillac Records.

"I'd love to work with Anita Baker, you know the living legends - Patti LaBelle, Aretha Franklin.

"I'd love to work with somebody like that but top of the list has to be Prince. He's a musical god to me. He's the epitome of what I aspire to be as an artist. He's a singer, songwriter, composer, dancer, actor, producer - you name it, he can do it. Walking and talking to him are the same."

While he may aspire to be like Prince musically, Ne-Yo admits that he has no desire to change his name.

"No, no. I'm not going to start wearing heels either," he said, laughing.

That would be cool.....There are only 2 people I will pick there album up on the day of release no matter what...Prince and Ne-Yo. Anthony Hamilton is close... Ne-Yo and Prince would kill the industry if they did a Kanye / Jamie Foxx (Batman and Robin) joint together....

Man thats awesome to hear biggrin My respect levels have gone up a notch for him. Ne Yo is a great talent, who not only writes hits for himself but also for others.

Ne-yo has worked with every young pop star in the business. The thing I love about Prince is he's exclusive and only works with a selected few, he should continue to do so and not work with the same people everyone else is working with nod

Sorry Ne-Yo but you have to be a pop starlet like Bria or a Pussycat Doll in order for Prince to even consider it.

Not that I think that it will happen but he can write some great songs and would probably write a better song for Prince than he would for himself. I'm glad that no one seems to be dissing Ne Yo like they normally do for so many other artist on this site. I like him alot and listen to his music especially when I found out that he was from Arkansas and even more when I discovered who his Mom is. Great lady and even better friend. I wish him much success but Prince may surprise us all and work with him. So never say never but we are talking about the Kid.

I'd like to work with Prince too....ain't happening!

I could picture Ne-Yo doing songs for the R&B Grand Dames with possibly good results.

Seems like Prince goes back and forth lately when it comes to working with others but he doesn't seem to be sharing his gifts lately, no?

give one of neyo's songs to somebody else with charisma and an identity and it would be a hit like the songs he's done for other people. He's a good song writer and can hold a note..that's it
but yeah it would interesting if he did work with Prince..get taught a thing or two

ne-yo isn't good enough to colaborate with prince.
prince should colaborate with meshell, stevie wonder, chic corea, sting and produce amazing music.
he can do that ,ne-yo isn't capable ofd following where prince can go in music.
his songs are good for beyonce but not for prince

yeah, the only thing about this, if it ever materialized.... Ne-yo would be the artist here and Prince writing his material.. cause it surely won't be the other way around..

FOR REAL.

Ne-Yo is a becoming a powerful force in the current Pop music industry. Prince may have been able to compose whole albums for his spawned "proteges" that really weren't mega-popular,m but Ne-Yo writes Hot 100 hits for himself and his own competition who are already established in the business.

Just like he would for MJ (his main inspiration), I'm sure Ne-Yo could create a whole hit album for Prince if allowed. As hard as it is these days, this guy knows how to write good substantial songs.

prince can write much better and bigger pop hits then ne-yo if he wants.
reason ne-yo is so sucessful on charts right now is not because of quality of his work but because record labels dictate who will be on charts.

Isn't Ne-Yo the one who wanted to work with Madonna and Mj as well? Is that his way of getting free attention? Declaring how much he wants to work with somebody?

ne-yo is great. I mean obviously he is nowhere near prince's musical level, but who is?

I always thought his second album 'because of you' had some very prince like songs, especially this one

http://www.youtube.com/wa...OzB-YFdlDA

The drums and the melody are very prince like

Sure, I can believe that. Especially since everything is circling back now, and most new music sounds similar or identical to popular songs of 80s. But I just feel that Ne-Yo is at least trying to sound different, all the while definitely using MJ's style and "genre of music" and prolific Prince's gigantic catalog as the main sources of reference for his output.

yes if he wants.
its easyest thing to make song inteded to be hit,and in contribution with other important factors like marketing song will be a hit.

for a hit song you need catchy and memorable melody and thats about it.
prince can do that thing in a sleep and probably have a vault full of hits.

its the subject of another discussion why music industry isnt interested in marketing artist older then 40 unless its another greatest hits
