The largest difference that sticks out 2 me is the whole perception of Christ.
Christians believe Jesus is the Son of God,a part of the Trinity which is God in 3 persons, and the Messiah. JWs believe that Jesus was Michael the Archangel, not God.

Talking of Obama, I recently posted that many people in the UK were talking of the possibility of his assassination. I was shouted down by another Orger who thought my statement was unfounded.

Well I see that the Irish bookmaker PaddyPower is honouring previously made bets made on such an event occurring before his first term expires but that the English bookie William Hill (one of the largest UK bookmakers) has said they will not be offering odds despite receiving a number of request from punters.

No news on Ladbrokes but I heard it was possible initially although they may well have withdrawn their offer due to public complaints and press involvement.

So I was right troll

I find the folks who freak out the most are those who refuse to hear a disparaging word about Prince.

Take for example, New Power Soul. It's not exactly mean spirited to point out that the album sucks. But if you state that, you get attacked by a bunch of New Power Butt Puppets who refuse to believe our boy isn't infallible.

Rather than an independent, non-affiliated, site diversified by people who are into all sorts of genres and styles, many would rather it be a type of Prince church. A Jones Town clad in purple coolaide laced buttless chaps.

It's ridiculous that we can speculate on the sexuality of Clay Aiken (he's out already I know), but we can't even breach the subject with Prince. For fuck sakes he wears high heels and makeup! And an ugly wig! I know folks say it's beating a dead horse, but so are the make a track-list, post a picture of, and help me make a compilation threads.
But I digress--What I'm trying to say is that despite being the most talented alleged gay artists in the history of the world, it would be natural that he's amassed so much material that nobody could possible agree on the quality and merit of it all. And just because those who think a work is less than stellar or downright shitty, doesn't mean they're a lesser fan than you. If anything it could mean they have better taste than you--one never knows.

Whoa whoa whoa there Imago. This is no place for sensible talking, this place is all about crazy talking.

According to a site I had the misfortune to visit recently, we, at the Org, consist of far too many 'haters' (man I hate that word and it implies that the opposite is a 'lover' and that sounds way too gay (non-sexual) for me).

I think, as you rightly say, many people mistake rational critique and personal preference with negative opinion that is posted purely for negativity's sake.

I am a Prince fan and stand vehemently against the Prince sycophant. I don't pretend to understand the content of the songs or even try to hide the fact that I don't know many of the lyrics. And I stand by my opinion that, although a world-class guitarist, his solos are from from remarkable (or memorable for that matter).

I am often bemused when I read that someone here finds a certain album not unequaled or worthy of gratuitous praise, but that's their opinion. They're obviously retarded of course. However I do find that the Org, when compared to another site I often visit, is far more tolerant of free speech, even to the extent of it being crude and often childish. Whether this is due to poor moderating is another topic altogether.

And who the hell is Clay Aiken? Not that I really care so don't feel obliged to reply.

And lastly I would like to add that in the small English town where I live it is possible, on occasion, to see a certain middle-aged man walking through our town centre wearing high heels, a wig and make-up. His sexuality I cannot comment on but the fact that he is a transvestite goes without saying.

And many a grin does he arouse.

PS: Saw him on a bike once. Was wearing a summer dress. I stopped dead and turned about. Longest grin I've ever had I think.

i've listened to the man since 78'and the tender age of 12, my relationship to (not with) him evolved from curiosity-idolworship to plain old all time favorite performer. I've spent a lifetime collecting discussing and marveling at his work, i've also had a great deal of laughs ( in and out of paisley park) at his expense. would i trade him for another artist? hell no LOL, i'm a proud prince head and i believe across the board theres nobody better. But i reserve the right (as a grown assed man) to ignore him when his sheltered view of the world annoys me, get pissed when he puts out a wack movie or album and come here ( because i pay my internet bill) and talk shit about what he should do. That's love i guess LOL, i'll defend him to people who dont get it and challenge anyone who claims someone is his musical superior but he is not the end all be all. My Children and now there children are my alpha and omega. So, you can call me a hater all you want, i'll be there when he decides to put something out ( but not when he talks LOL) like i was when he wasnt a music industry blue blood. If what he puts out is poor in my opinion i'll comment on it because i dont steal from the man- i spend my money, if it is great (which honestly i believe the chances of that are dwindling) i'll say SEE I TOLD U SO. But the one thing i wont do for prince or anyone that uses the word Hater to discourage objective ( sometimes disenting points of view) is relinquish my right to be a balanced adult with my own opinion.

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Preach it girlfriend!

And Clay Aiken is a former winner of American Idol who was so gay that Gay & Lesbian groups used to invite him to their yearly parades to be the mascot even during the years he was still proclaiming himself to be straight (I'm not even lying lol ).
When he finally came out this year, it nobody gave a shit. lol

I don't think that's a very apt analogy. Pissing in someone's soup could cause them actual harm (depending on what microbes the pisser might harbor). Expressing an opinion wouldn't.
We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Without a doubt, we are at the epicenter of Prince fandom here at prince.org.

To me, this latest flap with New Yorker interview is the latest in a long line of Prince "drama" that has been (as usual) blown way out of proportion by many hardcore fans. From his religion, to Larry Graham, to his marriages, to his alleged hip surgery, etc---there is always a section of fans here that get very dramatic over stuff that the rest of the world doesn't know or care about.

Example: How many people that you ran into at the 02 or during the Musicology Tour knew and or cared that Prince is a Jehovah's Witness? The bulk of the people I met didn't know, and really didn't care.

Question:Is it the nature of a fan website to heavily scrutinize and dramatize every little action of the person the site is devoted to? Or, are Prince fans just extra crazy?

Of course, a new CD doesn't change the fact that the man is a complete ass.

Prince wrote the Bible on post 1970s Funk (partially), and is an exemplary of the 99% genius edict. Such a body of work to chew over, such a 1% to enquire after.
