Come 1993 tracklist was a fake!

Well, we all know the track list by now for this unreleased gem which is so much better than the released Come album from 1994, but just in case, here it is again:

prince: Come (29 May 1993)
- date mentioned in Mayte’s fax to Controversy #42, track list by BorisFishpaw

TRACK LIST NO LONGER VALID. See bottom of the thread.

Sounds like a really great album, right? biggrin But seeing how it hasn't been bootlegged in its entirety, how do you get to hear it? omfg

Well, don't worry. It is possible to piece it together from various sources. Here's what you need to get started:

Peach and Pope were officially released on The Hits 2. biggrin
Interactive was officially released on Crystal Ball. biggrin
And Papa and Solo were officially released on the 1994 Come album. biggrin

So far, so good, but for the rest of the tracks, you need bootlegs:

Come and Endorphinmachine are on Outtakes 1993-94. biggrin
Poem is on Neon (as Orgasm). biggrin
Pheromone (without the Poem-intro from the official release) can be found on Now and Come 11 March 1994. biggrin

As for the rest, Space, Loose!, Race, Dark and Dolphin, they are still only circulating as Glam Slam Ulysses recordings with audience-noise. Oh, well. Anyway, those can be found on Silver, but you need to shorten Space from 5:37 to 5:30 when you burn it. biggrin

You have all that? Good, then burn it like this:

1. Come (4:49) - from Outtakes 1993-94
2. Endorphinemachine (3:51) - from Outtakes 1993-94
3. Space (5:30) - from Silver
4. Interactive (3:03) - from Crystal Ball
5. Pheromone (4:23) - from Come 11 March 1994/Now
6. Loose (3:23) - from Silver
7. Papa (2:48) - from Come
8. Race (4:03) - from Silver
9. Peach (3:48) - from The Hits 2
10. Pope (3:29) - from The Hits 2
11. Dark (6:26) - from Silver
12. Solo (3:48) - from Come
13. Dolphin (4:57) - from Silver
14. Poem (3:30) - from Neon

...And then listen to it! biggrin

Isn't that just a great collection and sequence of tracks? headbang

Betcha you're glad you made your own copy now. wink

Actually, I have a confession to make...

On Neon, Poem (entitled Orgasm) is segued with What's My name, so I burned my Come 1993 CD with What's My name as a bonus track. razz

And who knows, maybe What's My Name actually was a hidden track on Come 1993? Why else would it be out there segued from Poem? hmmm

Maybe Boris knows? Boris, where are you? call

So much better than the released version - I agree.

What a shame that orignal studio versions of Space, Race and Loose are not circulating.

The only time i have heard Race in this form was via MTV Cola-cola report c1993.

I have never heard silver so cannot comment on Space and Loose.

To my humble ears Dark and Dolphin are perfect in their released form.

I don´t find the Ulysees versions of Space and Loose! and Dolphin that different, really. Sure, they are not the same as on the released version of Come but hey, the differences are only slight differences and only the diehard fans would be able to really hear them.
What I would really like to hear, though, is that rock version of Space that is supposed to be drastically different. Now that would be something.

Also,I think Strays of the World would be a nice addition to that tracklist and would complete the whole "concept" behind that album, especially with that whole "come" idea behind it, ( come now all ye Strays of the World, there´s a place 4 U") , it was really the motto back then ("Come!") and also a not so tongue-in-cheek pun. I´m probably the only one besides Prince and Morris Hayes who thinks that Strays of the World is a fantastic song. People easily dismiss it as too bombastic , in the vein of Three Chains of Gold, but I think it completes the whole concept and feel of that album, the whole atmosphere of pain, despair, loneliness, and hope towards the end. Would have been the perfect closing song.

Anyway, I am probably also the only one who prefers that officially released, more soulful version of the title track "Come " over that robotic sounding outtake version.
This is one of those phases where you just got to have each and every different version of a song because they are all somehow "legit" and equal, sort of different experiences and incarnations of a certain song or experience.

This phase had much more potential and interesting ideas than WB and even Prince himself were aware of. There ´s a lot going on thematically and there´s an overall feel that connects the songs on Come,The Beautiful Experience, The Gold Experience and even The Hate Experience. Prince was VERY futuristic back then and so ahead of his time. Too bad things never really took of the way they should have.

Well, Space is a just tad longer, is true, but Loose! and Dolphin have rather noticeable differences. Loose! is more funky and Dolphin seems more acoustic-like. biggrin

I've never heard of that before. confuse

It was the closing track of the 11 March 1994 configuration which has been bootlegged in it's entirety, thank goodness. woot!

And I like Strays Of The World very much, too. Always have. Whenever I hear it, I sing Gays Of The World, though. wink

The 4:49 version of Come is a rock version similar to what he played live on Act II in 1993. I love it! headbang The "robotic sounding outtake version" you're referring to is probably the 3:17 Come (Remix), as I call it. wink I love that too! boogie But that version was never placed on any of the Come album configurations, possibly because it actually was a remix...? hmmm Boris? call

Bootleggers oughta bum rush David Henry Hwang (who co-wrote Solo) and pay/beg/plead for a copy of the tape, which he has said Prince gave him. nod

Bootleggers oughta bum rush Kenneth Robbins (co-conceiver of Glam Slam Ulysses) and that hot dude, Jamie King (who did the choreography for Glam Slam Ulysses), too. Surely they have copies of the tape used for the show. hmmm

Oh, and I suddenly realized where Poem segued with What's My Name is from! Glam Slam Ulysses, of course! So if those tracks got bootlegged in good sound, then surely Space, Loose!, Race, Dark and Dolphin from Glam Slam Ulysses are out there in equally good sound. pray

I'm sure it's just a matter of time, before they appear. excited

Fraid I gotta disagree.

IMO the original version is best [live drums and instruments] followed by the robotic one [as per the Beautiful Experience TV show] and then the released version.

But the original stands out a mile for me as being the best. Love the way it segues into endorphinmachine aswell...

Hi, KAB!

By sayin' the original version, U mean another one and not the 'Beatiful Experiende' version, neither the released one?

Is the original version on 'Come' 11 march 1994?

As you can see from Scifi, yes a different version - the 1st one. Most of the original tracks were played with real instruments including come, loose, race and I believe space. By the time of the album release several had been re-vamped and not in a good way [IMO].

I think Come [album version] is a step too far for me. I don't mind the others but prefer the originals [the ones ive heard]. Songs with REAL instruments are always better IMO
