I was wondering where everyone got the idea Prince hates U2.
The only time I've heard him mention them is at the latest gig when he made 'that' bad joke. But that's all it was, a joke.

Has he said anything else to give people the impression he dislikes U2?

i think it has something to do with the fact that back in 84...or was it 85...anyway, after a purple rain show...the edge supposedly said something negative about prince's guitar playing...to which prince kicked him fair in the nuts... i think that's how the story goes anyway...i believe he and bono get along great...but the edge is shit scared of him

Prince's ego was hurt when U2 won best album for Joshua Tree and not prince for Sign in 1987

To the point about U2. Did you know that Bono was asked who his favourite musician was by Chris Evans (UK dj and tv host). Bono answered that it was Prince, the reason being that the Minneapolis maestro had such a large and quality filled catalogue.

All we really have to go on is his music/lyrics--which is a great thing!

i think u2 are amazing but the edge should keep his mouth shut as prince is superior on the guitar overall.as for joshua tree v sign o the times,SOTT is a 10 0ut of 10 compared to JT which is a 8 out of 10.princes music doesnt sound as dated.

IMHO, Prince has no beef with U2. I am taking him from his music/lyrics, which I think is the surest way of knowing what he means to say.

In any case, he may well have said it. And if so "my face is red, I stand corrected."

I'd be upset too if my perfect album lost out to something filled with flaws like the Joshua Tree (the second half of it).

But if you compare any album with Sign it will make the other album look like crap.

I Don't care if Prince hates or loves U2, but i just can't stand the sight of Bono, and their music they can keep 2 themselfes.

The fact that I don't understand is that U2 won the grammy over Prince for best album.
