Prince didn't lose the rights to the name 'NPG'.

Remember when NPGMC shut down and there was some court drama going on about Prince's use of the name NPG?

Well.....Bria Valente's single was released through "NPG Records" just a few weeks ago, according to iTunes.

he was in dispute with another company that claimed he violated some sort of copyright on the web name npgmc.com.

im not sure what happened but the NPG name is still ok to be used eg:

Planet Earth and the new book/album was on NPG RECORDS

he's band is THE NPG...

etc

If I'm not mistaken, it was the use of "NPGMC", not the NPG per-se.

My understanding was there was a conflict using "NPG Publishing" as someone else was already using it.

Yeah that's what I thought because I think the dispute was with the Nature Publishing Group so they got antsy with the books he was selling through NPGMC but the music and tshirts etc were OK. That's what I remember from all the legal stuff that was posted here - that books were the main source of contention.
