I haven't heard it, but if it gets the younger generation to back up and listen to the mentors of previous years...That will be a world blessing.

More fire power.

I actually like this. I see it as more of an homage than a rip-off. It won't be found on my playlist, but it sounds pretty cool.

For real. confused I read Stargate produced this, which is very disappointing. neutral

I think it's a publicity stunt for Rihanna, considering all the recent news about her "looking like" Prince (which she certainly does not in my eyes), so now she wants to sound like him.

I hope Prince sends his legal team after them. LOL. She's already ripped off enough people. Everything she releases either contains a sample, or clearly sounds like a mega-hit of another real/original vocal artist of the past or present. Looks or not, I will never understand her popularity in music.

Welcome to the world of pop music. Rihanna certainly isn't exclusive to any of the things you mentioned. Today, everything sounds like something else. After 50+ years of rock and roll, it's hard to escape. There are only 8 musical notes to work with, after all.

Since you brought it up, besides the obviously intentional, stated and credited Michael Jackson chunk in "Don't Stop The Music," what else has Rihanna sampled or "clearly" sounded like?

I smell generation gap. wink

Prince could do that himself if he weren't so tight.

Haven't you heard that she's barely got $20,000 to her name. Sue her for what?

Not a sample at all. It ticks a lot of the right boxes, reminds me of some early house tracks from the early 80s as opposed to Prince's brand of the MPLS sound, as it's much more conventional rhythmically. There's always an element missing though in these sound-a-like tracks from recent years, like they've found the linn drum samples, but they don't know how to use them right.

Wow this is a total rip off, don't think its samples P (unless the Linn drum is sampled) - but Prince could sue.

It's not a sample, but it sure sounds like whoever wrote/produced this song had Controversy in mind when they did.
