I can't listen to Lady Cab Driver

This song really creeps me out. I listened to it over and over and it still creeps me out. Its that part toward the end where it sounds like the woman is being raped..i dunno i just can't listen to this song.

Does anyone else know what I mean?

It's one of those animal fucks. One of those pure release ones that can often be a domination of the female. But then when you look at it the woman appears to have given herself quite happily and is more than accepting of that which she is getting. Possibly getting off on the domination of it too perhaps. I love the song, I haven't listened to it in 6 months or so, and I have already digested the animal side of Prince so nothing that He says in his music bothers me, although I don't recall her being dominant.

I guess this is my favourite Prince tune ever. Not about the lyrics, but the way it sounds. The combination of the Linn together with them live drums... That snare, so simple, tight. Same thing with that bass. To me, this is the way a Prince song sounds. I love it!

It's not rape Lady Cab Driver is one of Princey's best early work.

It did kind of sound like that to me, too. Not that the song says definitively either way, but for him to be taking out his problems on her reminds me of how people say rape isn't sexual but it's about power. So a person who is powerless about not being "handsome & tall" or about other world problems asserts power on this woman.

Of course he turns it all around in the end, so the hateful act becomes a loving one. It's just a creative way of speaking on the song, so even if it's a rape scenario it's not evil, just expressive.
