Hi Y'all! I'm new here so go easy on me plz.

So, when did u become a fan of Prince?

I have 2 words for ya:

PURPLE RAIN

I watched it for the 1st time during the summer and fell in love with him instantly!! Prince is such a tease!!
Sooner or later I started to watch his music videos online, bought some songs from iTunes, and DVD's!! I even started a picture collection!
I love him for his humor, talent, and looks...
That's all....now it's ur turn!

P.S. I loooove MJ, and will mention him often...that sexy boy...

My story's kind of long funny so bare with me lol. I've always liked Prince's music since I was in the 4th grade back in 1991. I remember my friend had his diamonds and pearls CD and she would always be talkin about Prince and his high heels. I loved that song Diamonds and Pearls. Then I found my brother's Batman CD and i would always be hearing him play it all the time. I never REALLY was what you would call a fan but the Prince seed was planted lol. Well, then I remember hearing him on the radio all the time...I loved that song 7 I used to love when it came on the radio.
Then when I was in college I had an assignment from one of my music professors we had to do a cover of a Prince song in the music studio lol, and I did When Doves Cry, it was very funny. But it wasnt till this past summer when I just got out of the hospital for a surgery (and trust me I NEVER watch TV) and I couldnt do much but watch TV all day which is a rare thing for me and I stumbled on VH1 and saw they were doing a Prince marathon and I was like, Oh cool I like this! ...so I kept watching it and I was like "Wow this is aweseome!" I don't know haha something clicked and I was like "why didn't I get into him before??" so I went online and found this org sight, went to a record store near me and bought a couple of his CDs and been playing em in my car ever since LOL....I really love his music I think its fantastic...haha i'd have to say my fav song is definately "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" I LOVE that song i never get tired of it its sooooo good. Oh yeah, and i must mention I am an MJ fan have been for 10 years so it was easy for me to get into P's music. Thanks for lettin me share

I've told this story often here, but I've been a Prince fan literally all my life!!! It's a long story.

My brother Lester (R.I.P) had a walkman w and he put the headphones on my mother's belly.

Growing up, I thought it was cool that we had a lot in common. The same last name and birthday for example.

When I was 6, I did Let's Go Crazy for my school's talent show. Here's this little black kid at a mostly white catholic school playing a little toy guitar, doing pelvic thrusts, and sticking my tounge out at the girls.

After that, I became a mini-celebrity with girls asking me to "Sing like Prince", "Dance like Prince", etc.

When I was 9, I was going to a mostly black public school, and I did 7 at THEIR talent show. It was like I was going on tour as a little miget one-man Prince cover band!!!

I just laid down and stared at the ceiling, took about 9 slow breaths, left my body, willed myself 2 Minneapolis, saw him there at the piano, and said, go in, and all of a sudden I was inside of Prince. When the song was over, I was back in my own boring body.

My brother bought the Purple Rain album and that was that!...i was hooked from then on..before that it was The Jam + The Police...Prince just took music to another level...

Nothing special here (>.<), lol!

I was just interested in "That guy that used to be MJ's rival in the 80's", so I said "let me check him out on Wiki and allmusic etc." and of all the text I read only one thing came to mind... MUST CHECK HIM OUT! !

Can't find anything on Youtube XD! And you can't find his albums anywhere in my country ... so I the last thing Prince wants and downloaded Purple Rain... and WOW!!!

Fortunately, I go to London every summer , and I bought all albums released between 1979-1988 and I'm just happy with them !

8th grade listening to one of his song on the radio

heard "Little Red Corvette" & "Raspberry Beret" on the radio, so decided 2 go buy The Hits & The B-Sides.

Always aware of him. Remember an old friend playing Purple Rain backwards the day he got it and not really knowing what was going on in the world.

Next step. Ex girlfriend was into Prince. We split and I had a couple of her albums and PR video (wonder what happened to that?). Anwyay I started listening to them and Let's Go Crazy blew me away. I also listened to Lovesexy a lot as it was the album she was into before we split (broken heart you see).

Anyway then it became fanatical. Then there was a huge break until 21 Nights. That was my pilgrimage. Went once and had to go again. And again. Now I have lots and lots of material although I would still like to get some of the original stuff on vinyl. And I find I really like stuff like TRC and ONA which often divide people. I was even playing NEWS last night. Hard going at times that one. Depends on whether you like jazz I guess.

Nicest thing about getting back into Prince though has been realising that all along I loved funk. Now I have cds from Sly to Ronson. Big funk revival going on at the moment which would be so much cooler if I lived in a city large enough to have funk nights.

Music's just a great journey and it's always evolving. Despite what many here think

i remember hearing i wanna b ur lover back in 79 and controversy in 81 liking them but not knowing who was singing. then i remember seeing a video by this group in a school class spelling out the title of the song with their hands ..nasty girl came next ..still not seeing the dots...i knew who he was with 1999 and little red corvette but still not biting the bullet. then came the summer of 84 and how much i liked when doves cry, singing it everyday as a junior camp counsleour during the summer. one of my collages asked me if i was going 2 go c the movie and i was like 'OH HELL NO" but gave in when she kept pestering me about it. came in2 the movie half way in and stayed 2 c the part i missed.

while i was waiting they were playing prince music and i later found out it was the 1999 album and hearing "whatever u heard about me is true..." i had 2 find out more about his music then. i remember telling my mother that i wanted 2 get prince's music "oh god no!!"

tada 20 some odd years later i'm still here digging it all tho at times i had 2 step away.

i wonder tho if i still would have been this much of a fan if it weren't 4 the black album and having my eyes opened 2 that whole other world

I was seven. I was watching video music box and saw Raspberry Beret. That's my earliest memory of him. I'm sure I was listening to him on the radio but nothing sticks out about that. I do remember playing "Love Bizarre" on my baby piano along with the radio. Had no idea Prince had anything to do with that song. Oh, also there was Manic Monday. I was also watching that on VMB and I heard Ralph mention that Prince had a part in that song. I was like, yah...this prince dude is bad!!!
