"I would Die 4 U" Timeless.

Every time this song comes on the radio it sounds brand new to me. I feel this way about some songs, they are timeless. "Honky Cat," is another example of songs that just stick around with the season of the changing years.

Yep, 3 chords, understated, short but timeless as you say. Almost ethereal, borne out by some of the lyrics and the vocal style.

And then it segues into Prince's most exciting song...

eye listened to that song like 4times 2day..and yes..it is timeless.

there are some "remixes" of the song that are longer. officially, there is a 10 minute extended version that kicks ass and a 30 minute "unofficial" mix of that, which kicks more ass, until you can't stand it anymore . the intros to these are my favorite. i'd say i favor them over the original, but yes, an awesome timeless classic either way.

I loved how in the original... he was speaking as God/Jesus in first person... the song made sense... "He's your Messiah and you're the reason why"... here he broke the consistency and spoke of God/Jesus in third person... but musically? A FREAKING AWESOME MIX!!

The other change was "I'm not your lover, but I'll be your friend"... here it's not as bad as the other change, just a little annoying XD! It was more powerful in the original, saying that God/Jesus transcend and go over being just a 'Lover' and/or a 'Friend', but I don't know... maybe his beliefs when he made that mix told him that God/Jesus was his friend !

I'm no believer myself, so I could be saying many wrong things at many wrong levels XD! I hope I didn't offend anyone...

It's weird because it seem slike it comes from the video, but they edited him out saying "Sheila" on the record when he cues her percussion solos.
