I havent given up on Prince, but I'm a bit Lost!

Where are the DVD's, New Music Cd's, Where are the surprise performances on TV (now), I must admit I enjoyed the "3121" era and "Musicology" era, but everything is so damn tamed!!!

I want the 21 Nights Dvd, instead of a BOOK, or how about both for a box set over the holidays.
I'm so losing interest in what he's giving these days, Can we get a brand new single and video, a surprise from ya PRINCE, like when I'd turn on the radio back in the 80's and 90's and be totally mesmerized by the new single, hott off the press!

Give us something different and new!!!
I'm not excited anymore, is their anyone who feels the same?

yah i feel the same. a bit unstimulated....like im missing something?! his new stuff...it's fine, but i feel like im not included sad i just can't get involved with his new music like i do with his old. it sounds ridiculously cliche but when i listen to his 80's music, its as if he's directly addressing me! like the first time i heard "if anybody asks you, you belong to Prince" i was like grinning from ear to ear! i just don't get the same buzz from the latest i'm afraid to say sad
I thought u liked eggs. I thought u liked me.

I wish there were some cool remasters to look forward to! Other artists are remastering their old CDs.releasing box sets, etc.I wish that Prince showed more enthusiasm for his amazing catalog.

i guess he doesn't do remasters partially because of the situation with WB, but also because he doesn't like "looking back". but it doesn't seem like he's doing much in the moving forward area either, so why not make some extra money while you're sitting there in neutral? lol

Everytime someone says, "oh I'm done with Prince" or they feel that they are on the verge of leaving the Purple Camp, Prince does something that makes that person excited again. If you are in this position, PLEASE be patient. I'm sure that there is something coming from Prince that will get you excited again.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I have been on the verge for awhile. It has nothing to do with his music, it is the way he has been acting. The way those have supported him have been treated. He knows a lot of people are not happy, and he needs to openly deal with the issues. I know a lot of people that threw away their cd and posters because they got so fed up with his antics

I reckon Prince can never replicate what he had in the 80's.

And for those of us that were lucky enough to be there we should be thankful for that.

He captured a moment in our time that was spontanious and opened many of us up to music in a way that we hadn't been shown before.

Maybe he doesn't have any more tricks in his bag. Maybe we know him too well.

It's not about getting old it's just that the story is getting old.

We know Prince, we know what he is about.

We know where he's coming from with his music and nothing will ever be new again.

That said, to me, it doesn't matter.

As an old fan from the 80's I am now listening to his 90's music and more with new ears and suddenly I am not disappointed.

I don't know what's changed for me but I suddenly realised that there is a rich body of work out there that I didn't really know about.

Chaos and Disorder, Musicology, 3121, Graffiti Bridge, Diamonds and Pearls...

Since seeing him on the 21 nights run I realised that there was so much music that I had missed out on and not truly discovered. I had maybe listened to these albums once or twice at the most.

Now it's like I'm rediscovering Prince all over again and realising that this music is so much more enriching than I had originally thought.

Hell, I listen to Batman ALL the time now! biggrin
Shut up already, damn.

If Prince doesn't like "looking back" than he should never play one of his songs that made him what he is again and give all that money to Katrina victims or something. Oh, that's right, he's "saving" unknown "artists", Man, we get upset over how he treats us.....Can you imagine how messed up this girl's head has got to be by now?...no wonder they never "make it". If you control anyone's life in any way, (and if you are trying to control someone else, they are actually determining "your" every move, that's control!) Prince will have to "carry" her the whole way....he's actually a crutch.....

Hey ya'll check this out:

I think we are not accustomed to his new way of doing things. Prince used to put an album every year. You could count on it. I dunno if it's because he's getting older and wants to put more time into what he puts out or not but I loved it when I could expect an new album every year.

When the npgmusic club was open was even better because you'd get new music all the time.

I think it's just that he's gettin older and wants to chill a bit. His stage shows have changed to.

I haven't given up on Prince, its just that he's spoiled us for so long since 1978 releasing an album a year and then during the 90's challenging WB and releasing even more music at some high volume to breaking free and giving us Crystal Ball, Emancipation, Jam of the Year Shows, NPS, and producing music for Chaka and Larry to the Indie NPGMC years and now, NOTHING LOL!!!

PE was too short, 3121 was the last time I was happy with PRINCE's input, Musicology had me very excited, now in 2008, I'm bored, want new prince and 21 nights isn't excited in book form, I'd rather get a dvd/documentary and the Afterjam cd with a better set list, including Amy Winehouse PERFORMANCE.

This is just a dry year!!!

I'll be throwing a HUGE Prince Masquerade BALL in Detroit!

I haven't given up on him, but he's doing nothing for me compared to my other favourites like Radiohead. Whereas Prince released a mediocre album and followed it up with empty litigious threats, Radiohead fairly recently released an album that I adore. That's not to mention the cool way they released it coupled with other niceties like the "scotch_mist" movie they put up on YouTube on New Year's Eve.

Prince has been quiet for almost the whole year...and unless
he has some surprises up his sleeve, it looks like it might
stay this way until 2009. It makes sense though...after the
21 nights and what was quite a hectic schedule in 2007, he
deserves a break. Some of us dig the underground Prince,
while others like it when he goes 'mainstream' in his
endevours - but one thing is for sure, unlike his contemporaries
who were with him during the 80's, and those of today - Prince
still possesses an aura of mystique around him which keeps us
all guessing and wondering what his next move will be.

p.s. ... i loved Planet Earth, but wouldn't mind a cd with
messages that are more universal and comprehensible to us heathens wink
