Heard the song today on the radio. It's sooooo good! Played around 10ish tonight. Cannot wait for more! I remembered some of the lyrics i tried to write it down as fast as I could so not sure if it's all correct...

"Everytime another boy speaks
They be catching feelings like they wanna get with me
I don't hear no evil or see
Doesn't matter because they ain't never gonna get with me"

Thats what i remember from the very beginning of the song and the chorus goes something like this....

"Because I only place God and the skies above him
He's the one that brings me joy
As long as I live
There will never be another boy"

Sweeet!

Did I say that Prince needed to use sex to sell his music because he had no talent. No, I said sex is used to sell the music of his bimbo protégées. He has been doing for over 20 years and it has been going on in music since Edison invented the phonograph.

He did not succumb to anything he has been doing it the whole of his career. I have always felt he is referring to himself when he talks about “real musicians” He is stating I am the real deal and not even including any of his side projects.

I am trying to figure out where you have been hiding over the last 20 years. When did P every work with established artist who do not really need his help? He is not going to allow himself to be produced by anyone and I think he pretty much said that back at the beginning of his career so stop waiting for something to happen that is not going to happen. In addition, you generate income from songwriting do you think P is gong to share credit with any of the artist you mentioned.
Controlling and guiding is exactly how you make money in the industry.

I really don't get how you interpret "real music by real musicians" to mean that Prince is referring solely to himself. The whole point of Musicology - the identification of the instruments before and after the solos, calling Maceo "the teacher," repeating the line before and after covers - was about musicians, plural; not Prince alone. One of the lines in that song asks - "Don't you miss the feeling music gave you back in the day?" Is Bria going to give it to us, from what I heard, the answer is a resounding NO!

But I digress, he's not just talking about himself. Out in Vegas he made the comment that he wasn't mad at the DJs, but there are a lot of out-of-work musicians out there. So as others here have said, it is EXTREMELY disingenuous of Prince to highlight the plight of REAL musicians then throw a second-rate model turned singer in our faces and expect folks to give up their hard-earned coins in this awful economy to support that crap. It's actually crazy.

You talk about the image and sex selling with these proteges, but the majority of Prince's fanbase, undoubtedly the only place where you'll find people who will give a care about Bria Valente, is not a group of musical illiterates. He's been in the game for 30 years. His fans are older and have been exposed to real music. For the most part, they are not going to fall for the "pretty girl" who can barely hold a note but looks good in a baby doll dress package. Those girls are marketed toward younger, less discriminating music listeners/buyers. Yes, young pretty girls/boys sell records to other young girls and boys. That has existed since the beginning of time, but does that justify Prince going back to that dry well this late in the game - no it does not, at least to me it doesn't.

You respond as if the problem is that folks here are hating on the proteges. The fact is that they don't have any talent and most of us are too old and experienced to wet our pants over the prospect of Prince's latest conquest turned singer producing anything of note because history dictates otherwise. If they had some semblance of talent it would be another story, but they do not. So I choose not to waste my time.

Because P’s is ego is out of control. I really think he thinks he is the alpha and omega of music and what other people should do does not apply to him. Just my take. The musicology tour was P saying I am bringing you live music as I am the baddest. Bria is going to do and sing exactly what she is being told to do and you never know maybe she is going to go out on the road with a real band.

I guess the Pussy Cat Dolls are crazy and all the people who brough their CD’s are crazy as well. What is crazy is putting out real music that never gets radio airplay, sells or record company support. If any of you think a five piece RnB male band is going to get signed by a major record company and played on mainstream radio your smoking crack.

Other people buy and listen to music besides P fans. If he keeps his face out her videos and voice off of her songs she might make it. Several people have already commented that they liked the tune and no P does not have to justify who he works with to his fans.

If you do not want to waste your time that is choice but, I hope you are not wasting your time listening to the other crap on the radio these days.

With all due respect Laura, I could care less about the talentless bimbos known as the Pussycat Dolls. No, I don't know if their fans are crazy in the clinical sense, but I would venture to say that they are indiscriminate listeners who don't have the same standards that I do as far as music is concerned. As someone who loves and appreciates REAL music, I think the Pussycat Dolls are a joke.

If P keeps his distance no one would even know or care who Bria is. What made folks listen to the station to begin with - the whole "Purple Grapevine surprise" bit. Who would have tuned in otherwise? In terms of folks commenting that they liked it do you know who these people are? Anyone can post anything, including Prince's PR/employees. I'm sorry but if you think she "might make it" without Prince's presence, you're the one smoking crack. Would Tamar have sold out shows without "featuring special guest Prince?" How much "making it" is Tamar doing now sans Prince? Two years later and she STILL hasn't released an album.

Also, as a REAL music lover, I do not think that it is crazy to create REAL music. So what if no one buys it. If all musicians took that approach some of the greatest music in the world would never have been created. For some REAL musicians it's not about radio air play, sales and chart success. It's about creating beauty, art and sharing their talents, their gifts with those who can appreciate it, like me.

Finally, I don't know what about anything that I have posted would even indicate to you that I listen to the garbage that's out there now. The very fact that I appreciate REAL music and will not succumb to the garbage that passes for "music" today is what compelled me to comment on this Bria Valente nonsense.

It's been real discussing this with you. However, I have resolved myself to not committing any more time or energy to anything Bria Valente related. The whole thing is lame and tired. It also makes me lose respect for Prince. There are far too many talented singers in his midst for him to waste his gifts on crap like this. So I need to just avoid this farce. I just can't take another, Child of the Sun, Carmen on Top, here's an album from my latest belly warmer effort from Prince. Instead, I'll wait for the 21 Nights project, which he should be promoting instead of this Bria foolishness.

Best to you...

Bellanoche, the idea that Prince should be doing something else because you believe that ought to be his focus seems somewhat self-centred and narrow-minded.

THE SONG IS ON NOW ON KJLH.com

Well first, I don't give 2 shits about his protegees. I'm not one of those fans who buys a CD from an associated artist because Prince produced their album, unless the music is banging. With this said, this song, Another Boy, is surprisingly, really good. I will echo what others have said before who've heard this, it sounds like classic Prince. The music sounds GREAT. That Linn Drum is just wonderful. Bria isn't bad either. I don't know if it's studio wizardry or not but her voice works very good with the song. I'm willing to give her a chance. Time will tell.

Does the station have a scheduled play list so we can know when the song is going to be on?

A friend of mine out in L.A. told me that it seems like the song is being played during the 10:00-11:00 hour, am and pm. I tried it during that time, the 1:00pm hour for the east coast since we're 3 hrs ahead, and it worked. Maybe, just maybe, if you listen to the station from 10-11pm pacific time tonight, you might be able to hear it. For those who are interested, good luck.

People who think that Bria isn't a talented singer...That's your opinion. I love the tone of her voice. It's soothing,sexy,sultry,etc... sexy We need variety of music. We all have different moods and pair those moods with music as we pair different "ELIXIR'S" thumbs up! with our food. We all have different speaking voices too that some poeple like or find annoying.I think her voice and beauty fits her music of what I've heard so far. It reminds me of other singers out there who weren't thought of as real singers..like Aaliyah,Sade,Ciara,India Aire,TLC,Gwen Stefani,Nelly Furtado...etc. They all had different voices and different ways of singing and performing. Yet they are all successful!! They didn't sound like Whitney,Mariah,Aretha,Chaka,Mary J,..etc. You don't need to have a loud voice to be a real singer! I find it funny that most of the singers that have that loudness tend to lose their vocal abilities the older they get. Yet singers who have a more sultry voice still have it.. hmmm It's not just about the voice...it's about the music too! Like I said before...everyone has a different opinion. I applaud.. clapping the variety of voices out there in this industry.LOL
