Prince - aborted documentaries

How many aborted documentaries are there?

There was 'The Second Coming' docu-drama and then another one from the Lovesexy era?
Does anybody know how many would-be-official documentaries did not see the light of day (or partly)?

Thanks, y'all.

No,it was Prince lol In 1989,Prince and his then-manager Albert Magnoli announced four films that they were planning to make...

"Graffiti Bridge"
"The Dawn"
"Dark Side Of The Moon"
"The Robert Johnson Story"

Of course, only "Graffiti Bridge" was completed.

Sounds like they were joking about the last two, no?

I remember this list because when I was young I was like "who the heck is Robert Johnson?".

The one thing about Prince is he announce stuff all the time and we never here about it. I have a poster from Purple Rain and on the back there are smaller pictures and captions and one says Prince is writting Purple Rain II. eek He was on 'The View' and he said there will be Crystal Ball II coming. I've heard of movies, Music (A lot more then WB would allow), Downloads, Give-aways, Tours, Live DVD's, behind the scenes this and that....I've heard it all. It's like a bad relationship. You really love someone and they jsut keep promising this and that..... smile

Personally, if it's hours and hours of listening to Prince's scripted, nervous, New Power Talking Points, then I'm not interested. It was fun and entertaining when I was a teenager and in my ga-ga for Prince 20's, but the mysterious-sage-with-sexual-powers-act has run it's course.

I would LOOOOOVE to see a documentary where you get to see the creative process. Where you get to see him change his mind on the direction of a song, or even create something he isn't excited about. I would love to see how he works.

And of course, ANY documentary of Prince should show him unscripted, warts and all. Otherwise it would be like asking the Bush Administration to do a documentary on the Iraq War.

So as aborted documentary stuff we have:

- The Second Coming (1982)

- Lovesexy Tour documentary (1988)

- Hit 'n' Run documentary (2000/01)

Is that it, or are there other hidden jewels?

I think it would have been an interesting project...would have given him a chance to play somebody else besides himself onscreen.Plus,we would have gotten a blues soundtrack from Prince!

I remember in the 80s after 'Purple Rain, there were always alot of rumors and whispers about upcoming Prince movies lol It's like every few weeks,we heard about another film, lol. In the spring of 1985,a US magazine reported that Prince's next film would be called "Prince Of Darkness and The Morning Star" while other mags were saying that the film will be titled "The Dawn".Then in the summer of 1989,those four films (listed above) were announced. It's clear that Prince truly wanted to have dual career in movies and music.
