I was there, and Ellen was dancing her butt off to it right in front of me. I was seated in the third row, but the way the seats were arranged, there was only crew set up in front of me, so it felt like the first row.

It wasn't a brave move or a diss or anything like that. I got more of the impression he played it for her because she requested it.

J7 was there too, I bet he'd say the same.

P.S. I wore an unusual jacket in hopes of spotting myself in the crowd later. The only thing you can see is my arm for a second. Sheesh. Oh yeah, and the crazy guy who was standing next to me, crying.

Another show that I missed. That's a cute picture of Prince and Ellen.

he was trying to convert her back to straight-dom.

He played it b4 going in2 the last set. If u listen carefully after Ellen introduces the man, u can hear a little guitar playing then nothing b4 he goes in2 the love bizzare glam life I Feel 4 U Controversy medley. seriously, like half a second, if even that.

After he played Controversy, he walked off the stage and Ellen went 2 were his mic was at, like that't it? He came back and blew kisses 2 the crowd and bowed n that was that. Ellen was in a good mood and did not take any offense 2 it at all.


She joked with at the People's Choice Awards the following year.

This was one of my favorite performances he did in '04. I taped it and thought it was great. That was my fav. look for him with straight hair and the black suite was fly. The interview was playful and funny and he was really receptive to Ellen.

the more i look at that pic, they kinda make a cute couple. in some alternate universe.
