When I waited for the release of Planet Earth, picked it up from the wrecka stow the afternoon it was released, opened it on the way to my car and popped it in the CD player -- it was official, I was a fan.

Well, when I was 5 and you were 18, and now that I'm 29, I have no clue what (or who) "Midnight Star" is.

It was in 1984. Of course that was the year that Prince became huge, and I heard some of his songs on the radio, like "When Doves Cry", "Let's Go Crazy" and "Glamorous Life". Although I liked the songs I was not a fan at that moment.
But the song that turned me into a fan was "When You Were Mine". It was played in that same year (84) on an alternative radio station (who probably wanted to prove that they knew about Prince long before he became mainstream...). I heard that song and thought: this a really a beautiful pop song. From that moment on I was a fan and bought everything that had the Purple touch to it, which was quite a lot these days!

Seeing the "When Doves Cry" video on MTV at my Great-Grandparents house when I was 5 back in 1984.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I had a crush on a girl at my old job in Miami and she was listenin' 2 The Gold Experience and I asked her if I could borrow it. I was listenin' 2 P* Control and I was like this is "mad nice". Jam Of The Year Miami was like a month or so later, I went and that was it ... Been a hardcore fam/fan ever since ...

Peace ... & Stay Funky ...

Well, I dug "Soft and Wet" when it first came out although I thought it was a band called Prince with a white girl singing! Didn't know Prince was a dude untill a little later when I bought the album. I had the 45 but it was no pic on the sleeve and I NEVER played the b-side so....I dug "I'm Yours" but was never crazy about P's debut album. Even then. It wasn't untill he released his second album and I bought it cuz I already had the single of "I Wannna Be Your Lover" when I heard "Bambi" and "Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad". THAT'S when I became a fan of Prince's. Because of those two songs.

Walking from my Hall of Residence - to the one my mate lived at - in Uni, listening to the prince album amd thinking 'He wrote all this?'. omg Listening to all the crazy intricate details and trying to imagine the mind of an artist that comes up with that.

And to then work backwards and discovering all the previous albums. Lawd. drool
