Just heard Prince doing hallelujah !

Recorded from L.A. (I think his home...not sure).

Anyway, WOW. Fantastic, emotive, unreal version of the song.

eek Hallelujah as in the Leonard Cohen song?! (Made most popular by Jeff Buckley)
I have got to hear this! Do you know if this is a recent recording?

He didn't butcher the lyrics like he did with "Creep", did he?

This is my question, too. I would be impressed if Prince started listening to Leonard Cohen.

Ya know...I wonder if he got familiar with the song by watching American Idol! giggle (it was covered on there). boxed
But I would be impressed if he indeed was familiar with Cohen. nod

It's a brilliant song but has been DONE so many times! I think Buckley's is my favorite version. kd lang hit it out of the park and Dylan rocked it also, and of course the orig. by Cohen... If Prince did cover this tune, I'd be very curious to hear what he did with it.

Sorry, I only heard it once...I don't have it, but the person who recorded it played it for me.

It's just him with an acoustic guitar and it's fucking amazing.

I think it was the full version....no lyric changes that I know of, but I don't know the original backwards and forwards. no falsetto...the one word that comes to mind again and again is emotive.

I believe it is very recent, by the way.

So he sang the "maybe there's a God above" last line?

im curious to if he did.. cause knowing him he wouldn't dare sing that last line.
