This is a pic of P and Mayte at the opening of the store - saw a request for this pic in an old thread.

I was there the day they opened the store. Prince was in a great mood. I remember having a coffee inside that window (the coffeeshop section) watching the then unreleased Undertaker video.

I went to that store many times, it was located in Camden. It doesn´t exist anymore.
They had prince-related candles, perfume, jewelry, posters, t-shirts, books and of course CDs and videotapes. You could see unreleased videos and concerts on TVs, they had a cloud guitar and a costume from the lovesexy-era on display. The owner, a lady, was very nice. Upstairs they had a coffee shop.
I bought the original "Gold Nigga"-CD, a necklace, some posters and a T-Shirt with the store-sign (It reads "We are the New Power Generation", London, Camden Lock) on it there.
See the man with the blue guitar, maybe one day he`ll be a star...

God I remember that day he was there. I was at university in London and I was in Camden for the opening. Then there was a radio announcement that he was not coming-so I just went round Camden market. I walked past it later and heard that it had gone ahead and that there were crowds on the street, I don't think I have ever been so pissed off in my life.....well up to that point anyway

I had that white mug with symbols...I loved it but it took a battering - the cleaner at Uni dropped it a broke teh handle (which I repaired perfectly) and tehn some goon put it in the microwave which teh gold symbols didnt like and cracked the mug.

Unless Im mistaken somebody said earlier that a cloud guitar was on display...I dont think it was - it was in the underground vault/time capsule along with hand written lyrics. What was on dispaly was the 1999 purple coat, a Suit with Princes had written instructions to "add some snappers and shit" and a silk dressing gown.
My greates purchase was a black and Gold NPG top which cost me £15.....I sold it last year all faded and grey for £65 on ebay...I had to ask the guy to stop bidding as I felt guilty.

Man, I miss those NPG stores! bawl I went to the one in Minneapolis a few times, and it was soo awesome. They had Prince's convertible in the middle of the store, and tons of cool stuff to buy. sigh It's sad to think that both the NPG stores and the Glam Slam bars are no longer in existence. sigh
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

A bigger range of products for a start...whenever I went it seemed to be selling keyrings and cds of "The most beautiful girl in the world"..no tour programmes, no interesting tee shirts or posters.....even the album range was crap.

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81
