Rave un2 The Year 2000

Seriously considering purchasing this concert dvd. However, when it was released, there were complaints here at the org about the quality of the editing, schizophrenic was used, I believe.

Can someone please elaborate? Even if this is correct, is it worth getting still?

Thanks for the input. But, what about the camera work. I remember some people saying that it was all over the place! Like jumping from shot to shot, instead of holding it, and therefore spoiling the flow. Is that the case?

not that i recall, but it's got quite a sterile feel about it - doesn't capture the atmostphere very well imo.

The visuals aren't as bad as the horrifically poor, cheap shoddy Cannon look of the Live at the Aladdin dvd. That cheap, amature transfer sums up everything that's bad about a Prince product. That and the shoddy sound quality of the criminally still-to-be-remastered Prince classic 80's cds. Thank god for the Foefur remasters...

All I ever have is appreciation for whatever Prince has shared with us...

I guess this thread is as good as any to say that last night, the radio station KISS 98.5 out of the Grand Strand played several songs from "One Nite Alone." That was a nice surprise for a twilight drive. cool

The worst thing about this DVD is the dancers - who are awful because they cannot actually dance!

It must have been the full moon. Yesterday I heard Do Me Baby and I Would Die for U while driving. I also heard Kiss and Nasty Girls last night at a legends of hip hop show during Chubb Rock's set. The audience's reaction was priceless.

I liked the Rave DVD too the camera work wasn't bad nor the editing IMHO.

It's brilliant, just buy it, I did'nt notice any bad camera work or editing,(if there was any) I was too busy enjoying the show. Watched it loads of times it's one of my favourites.

I bought the DVD a few months ago and i'm glad I did. It's not perfect, but it's definitely enjoyable and there are some great performances. It's worth buying.

yes, they probably were for those who went...I tried several times, but each time they had none available...that's what I was told...maybe I ended up talking to some morons who didn't actually understand who it was I was hoping to see...they seemed to have no idea even when I gave him all the details...

maybe one day

It's definitely not a traditional Prince concert, but it has a few of my favorite Prince music moments:

the sound check opening
Fly Away with Lenny Kravits
I Wanna Take You Higher is slammin' (tho Kirk messes up BADLY on the drums at the end)
Purple House has probably the most blistering guitar solo I've ever heard him do

oh, and during the sound check, the "thump-off" he does with Larry Graham. Hecka-slammin'!

The per4mances were cool but my favorite parts of this dvd is the interviews with P and the other musicians.
