Prince's finger sign ........

I've been noticing lately that Prince has been depicting the finger sign below a lot. ..What he's showing is the finger sign for the numerical number...8. I think it's a mistake and that what he's really trying to display is the finger sign for the number 7. They are very similar. Eight is shown in this picture. ...The number '7' is pointer finger and middle finger extended ..ring finger being held down (shape of an 'o') by the thumb and pinky finger extended. ..I believe what he's meaning to convey is solidarity for '7' ..not '8'. (see the chart below) ..The number '7' , biblically speaking, signifies ..completeness ..spiritual perfection. ..I can't fathom that he's using '8' on purpose and it's frustrating that no one has told him that he's using the wrong symbol.

Prince is an absolute doll...I saw the meaning on the "Symbol," When Prince is holding the gold mic...and his wrist in the other hand...I knew I was sitting on the clock...I've been holding on...tighter than the rope itself....

I was alwayz told that is the "wild" sign (from get wild).

maybe he likes 8 cause it stands for infinity or maybe hes flicking his fingers the wild sign

it's just his wild sign. relax.

It's coincidence that it resembles the finger sign for a number. It's actually the
"wild sign". A new hand sign he made up during the 90's.

Basically he didn't like the usual "rock" hand sign (the devil horns, where you
you hold down your middle and third finger down with your thumb, leaving
your index and little finger pointing up like horns). So he modified it slightly
by only holding down the middle finger and named it the "wild sign". It's
kinda like him not liking the name "fan" (because it's short for "fanatic") and
inventing the word "fam" instead.

What does the #1 finger sign mean?

That's interesting that you pointed that out Marta and cool that you recognized that as the number 8. I'm very passionate about sign language and Deaf culture. Do you know a lot of sign language?

Prince has done lots of finger signs in the past, they change just like he does.

Yeah it is "wild" in PSL (Prince sign language) not meant to be a number. I though of the same thing in 97. But it is a good thing he chose to put the middle finger down and not the ring finger. (google "the shocker")

Also he puts the middle finger DOWN as in the opposite of the bird.

But he was into American Sign Language at the time as well. He even had a sweater with a message on it in Sign.
