First time around I barely listened to Lady Cab Driver - - for years I never listened to/ or ignored this song.

Now I love it!

Also the entire Batman album. Again I shelved this album for years. Barely noticed it. Barely thought of it as a Prince album.

NOW I love it! Love Arms of Orion - - think it's a classic Prince song. And NEVER stop playing Lemon Crush.

Same for Tambourine of Around The World in a Day.. Always put up with this song but NEVER liked it. Now love it!

What else...Ooo U Got The Look.. didn't like this for ages..

"I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man". I love the song now but for some reason I wasn't feeling it when I was 10 years old.

I recently rediscovered "Temptation" and I play it all the time. That is what is great about Prince. There is so much music to choose from, why complain about what you don't like?

I didn´t like some tracks like Come... Believe it? I love that one

I guess over the years u get maturity, and that allows ears to value his music differently than u did when u was young.
Prince was always ahead of all others, we know. Even I think that if Prince would edit many albums - 10 or 15 years ago - again, perhaps they would shock for busines music with the right difussion ...

Forever in my life...

I've loved every song the first time around and thereafter, except Joint 2 Joint...because of the "Sex Me rap"...although...where I hated the whole song I began trying to ignore the over top rap...and realized that I do like the song underneathe...I would just shave the sex...it's was just discusting to listen to.

Thanks for the replies, y'all biggrin

I've been a fan of Prince for one year now, and I'm 22 years old... so its not about me being too young to appreciate or that it took me a long while to do so, but I'm still dumbstruck that I didn't like LRC the first time around... I feel it's almost blasphemous >_< !!

'Purple Rain' is an "Inspiring" song so its not meant to be listened to in any mood I think. 'Sign o The Times' only got me when I listened to the lyrics (English isn't my mother tongue so I can't get the lyrics with the first listen).

Sorry for the long post! I tried my best not to say too much smile

Prince was hard for me to get into because his music requires more than one, two or three listening, but it´s definitely worth getting into.

For me it wasn't just songs but albums that took me awhile to get into. When I was a kid, my mom got me ATWIAD, Parade and SOTT while my uncle and aunt got me Lovesexy and I had all of these albums by the time I was 9. A lot of what Prince was saying went over my head but I loved the music. I got these albums 10-12 years later and that was when those albums and the beauty of those albums finally hit me. In recent years, I finally "dug" For You, Prince, Come and Chaos and Disorder. A recent song that didn't hit me but I finally dig is, believe it or not, Mr Goodnight. I thought it was stupid at first but a friend of mine thought it was hot and thought I should listen to it again. Somehow or another, I heard it differently than before and I now I enjoy it when it comes up on shuffle on my iPod. Strange things happen on this earth. nod lol

I'm just a fan of the coolest musician on the planet! cool

He seems to love singing this live - and always does it really well and makes it feel like an anthem!

It's very inspiring and has a really uplifting feel about it.
