Fellow fans please help an old-timer like myself understand why other so-called fans believe this so forcefully. And need to come here to tell us this. I honestly don't get it. Why are they angry? They seem so upset that Prince doesn't produce music they like.

It almost seems like they feel Prince owes it to them to satisfy whatever their notion of quality is. I trust Prince. Meaning that I believe the material he releases he feels its good stuff. If I don't like it its on me. I don't get all the angst and calling people who like it kool-aids sippers and the like.

I'm not a Bruce Sringteen fan. I have liked some of his songs but even the ones I was unmoved by I never considered them shit, or crap, or garbage and I'm not even a fan lol.

Is it the internet with its anonomousness (sp) that brings out such extreme opinions? I mean if Prince is producing garbage what's all this other dreck I hear on the radio all the time?

Is a part of this the "john lennon effect"? Where u love someone so much that eventually it turns to hate because they fall off of whatever pedastal u placed them on. What are your thoughts.

Sometimes when you love someone so much you have very high expectations for them...and when they don't come through for you (in your opinion)...you get mad. I used to do this with my mom when I was a kid.

Why should this forum only be about adulation? If someone feels Prince's recent output is crap, they should be able to say so without everyone crying about it. My favorite album, Lovesexy, is mocked ridiculed and hated by many.

Okay, I like his old shit more compared to his new shit. Hell, I mostly dig 78-83. (I'm the world's worst Prince fan, I know)

But, you know, I think some of it is that his new music has no memories attached to it, no connotations. I mean, when you're a kid, that stuff mean a lot to you, waiting days to get a new record the day it comes out. Losing your virginity to Adore or some shit like that. Your first concert being the PR tour.
