"God" love thread

....STRONG eccentricly,electric vocals.... think this is one of 's more spiritualerotic compositions.. think it's a wild song..and for some reason can't get enough...how to u guys feel..and does anyone know where can find the "purple rain" movie version???

God vocal is one of P's most way out vocals ever I think. This is a stone favorite of Jeffiner (Jennifer)..I never met anyone who loves this more than she does. I've mentioned the instrumental version "God" (Love Theme From Purple Rain) SEVERAL times on here in the past as being my favorite guitar playing of P's. The instrumental, which was featured somewhat in the film was released along with the vocal veriosn as a b-side to the 12' of Purple Rain. It was an import only released back in 84.

I think its a song lots of people struggle with if they're not from a faith based background me I am but no one ever played music like this when I went to Catholic school

the instrumental version is like top 3 prince instrumentals imo (along with 8 and alexa de paris ). i'm listening to it right now. such a beautiful track! our boy p is amazing sometimes!

as mentioned before, the instrumental version of god (the one in the movie, the one i'm listening to ) was released on a 12" single back in the day, same with alexa de paris . 8 is from prince's late eighties instrumental jazz-fusion side project madhouse's first album of the same name (8) .

The "vocal" version is way over the top and just not my cup of tea. The lyrics are great and it's a shame a gospel artist never covered it to bring it to the main stream. Pattie Labelle would of even killed on it!! The instrumental version is and always has been in my top 5 of instrumentals, neck and neck with Alexa Di Paris. The tone from his guitar is perfect and he doesn't over do it. PERFECT!

Holy cow I'm listening to the song right now! It's a beautiful song. The vocal are crazy and I love them! I love atmosperic songs and this song is a classic case in point for this. Prince put it down on this one!
