I dont like to catagorize music You just did with the title of your thread "Why don't Prince make good black people music anymore?" That sounds catagorized to me IMHO. Am I seeing things or is everyone else saying "WTF?!?!?!" I can see myself 98 years old and chatting on the org with cane and walker in hand plus going to tribute concerts cause that guy name Prince will be long gone and will have to sit next to the speakers just to hear the dam music because my hearing aid died

No that is categorizing black people with types of music, black people play also alot more then just R&B/Soul. They play jazz, reggae, classical, pop, rock, etc. you name it so really your putting a label on them rather you realize it or not. i think his past few albums have had plenty of self-consciously traditional R&B sounding music. it's when he throws convention to the wind and throws down some badass craziness that he makes the kind of songs you listed as examples of "black people music", which i think goes beyond any kind of easily contrived cultural demographic. it's just GOOD.

(gets some popcorn and awaits the e-bloodshed) I don't understand. why would someone insult me because I asked a question about Prince playing more black music? Dude. Hi. This is the Org. There are lots of different categories of Prince fan here but it usually shakes out into one of three camps. The "old-heads" who think that most of Prince's best work ended in the mid to late 80's. The "new-kids" who really haven't listened to the old stuff that much and think that what he's been doing since the late 90's to now is his most prolific stuff. And my faves to pick on, the "kool-aid kids" who drink the "purple kool-aid" daily and think that EVERYTHING Prince ever did is a masterpiece. Every song a sonata, and every movie worthy of an oscar. They look down their noses at ANYONE who's ever dared to have been compared to their purple messiah and will react with great vengeance and furious anger upon the mention of the fact that Prince did something "not good". You're about to get up close and familiar with that last group VERY QUICKLY. Don't worry, they usually don't like what i have to say much either. http://www.myspace.com/butterscotchpimp
