I've got several songs by Prince and a few other artists that I want played at my funeral.

First, before they roll the casket down the aisle at the beginning of the funeral, I want The Doobie Brothers' "Jesus Is Just Alright" to start playing. Then, about midways down the song, I want that song to stop and then the opening to Prince's "Let's Go Crazy" starts as they roll the casket down the isle to the stage. While Prince says the "punch a higher floor" at the end of the intro, the crack of thunder from Prince's "Thunder" blends in and then that song plays on through.

After they preach for a while, then I want them to play Wild Cherry's "Baby Don't You Know".....

Baby don't you know that the honkey's got soul.....

Then, midways through that song, I want it to stop and The Commodores "I Feel Sanctified" to begin.

Then, after they preach some more and the funeral ends, as they roll the casket back down the isle into the hurst, I want MC Hammer's "Do Not Pass Me By" to be playing.

Dammitt, I want some ass shakin' at my funeral because it's supposed to be a celebration rather than a mourning. lol

I keep changing my mind, but I think Mountains would definitely be there for my kids.

Its a difficult decision, I used to think it would be crazy or such like but since my fatherinlaw died and its a wonderful world was played, it kinda ruins the song for people and I wouldnt want anyone to associate sadness with those tracks, it would ruin them for my kids.

So Ill get back to you on this one

I think Id want a wake like my aunts last year, where everyone came together and played music, read poetry of theirs etc and had an open mike for friends an family. A great celebration of her life, tears and joy together. But you tend to get what those you leave behind want!

I love Prince, but at my funeral I'm having Bach, sorry!

Mind you, if I was lying there in my coffin and suddenly heard Prince being played, I would probably wake up/resuscitate biggrin

Evanescence's 'Bring Me To Life' would seem appropriate, but I guess I'm stepping outside the thread's question...

Well, I'm sure it would be cliche for me to select Starfish & Coffee.

So... next up: "Comeback"
