The top one is actually from The Roxy gig out here in L.A. from Prince's second album. They were backstage in the dressing room. Gayle was still in the group. She always resembled Teena Marie to me.

Nice pictures. I love the raw sound of the Dirty Mind tour. The album is cool but pales in comparison to the raw energy he created on stage. Those shows were not as flawless as later shows and I loved that aspect about them.
But my favorite version of all times of "When You Were Mine" was the one he played at First Ave in August 1983.

You know how long it took me to finally get the guts to look at these photos???? At first it was confusing.....I'm getting more brave I guess.....I still have trouble with quite a few of them.....Just trying to understand this time in his life...most are ok and sexy even....evey so often I think I'm looking at porn.....freaks me out!!!!! If I had a boyfriend these would be off limits I love you Prince stay cool.....4 ever

Yeah, P actually used a lot of cut and paste in his photos. That was done a lot which just morphed into photo shopping. But back then, that's how it was done, cut and paste. P used that a lot. I think in this shot, either P is standing on a box or his pic was taken seperately from the rest of the band and then just eased in later with the others. This really shows up on the inner sleeve of the band shot on 1999. P almost looks like he's in 3D in front of the others. That's really a cut and paste job on that one. Take the shot of the Let's Work 12' cover. You'll notice P has his legs spread wide apart so it appears that's why he's so much shorter than the others. It's a few shots where he has done that. It's some bathroom shots of Dez and P together and P is doing the same thing. And Dez isn't that much taller than P anyways.
