I think I'm ready for a Revolution Reunion now

For the longest time I've hated the idea of Prince getting back together with The Revolution. I'd say how people need to stop living in the past, etc I've been watching that Birthday Parade show and how much fun Prince was having. I've come to the conclusion that Prince getting back together with his old band would be really cool!!!

I know Prince has worked with Lisa & Wendy recently, and he jammed with Fink, Bobby, and Mark at the first Celebration. But I think a full blown Revolution Reunion would be awesome!!! I'm not sure if it should be a tour, but an appearance at an award show would be fine.

I know he's teased his audience with reunions in the past, but for some reason if he did it now. It would really work!!!

if they got together to pose for a few pics at some music event, that would be cute. that's really all i would want. i don't want to see them performing again, because they've all moved on and i think it would look depressing. prince and wendy can still jam together and pull it off, but the whole revolution? nah. that ship has sailed.

Now, THAT would be even cooler!!! Although, I think that's less likely than a Revolution Reunion!!!

I would like to see or hear Prince & Dez on stage together again. They don't have to do any of his dirty songs. Prince has enough spiritual material that would work for Dez. They could do like a gospel aftershow.

This issue has been pressed before, i dont think it would work for alot of reasons:

1. Many of the "revolution" members have families and children they want to raise and dont want to abide by P's schedule

2. Many have their own projects going for example:
Wendy & Lisa- do the scoring for the tv show "Heros" & already won a award for that. Yes Wendy has already performed with him on occasion but wasnt steady all the time type thing. Lisa prolly wotn be there cause she is busy on focusing being a mom now (and I dont blame ANY of the former members for not going on a "reunion" tour cause they want to stay at home with their families to raise their children as well).I dont blame them either for not wanting to be away from their children or families for a LONG period of time.

Matt and Bobby- Last I heard they own their own recording studio and have families to take care of( corrct me if im wrong on this anyone)

Mark,Andre, & Dez- havent heard from any of them except Dez writing his book on his days with P.

3. They already had a "reunion" happen a few years ago and in which case P was either invited and declined, OR they didnt invite him for fear of him trying to run the show and focusing on himself instead of the WHOLE "Prince and the Revolution" thing.

IMHO in short and I have voiced this before, NO it wont happen.

From what I’ve read and seen on interviews, they all had blast during those days, I don’t think ANY of them would turn down a tour for old time sakes, not a permanent thing of course, but just a tour or a couple of shows.

I bet you all 20 bucks they would do it! That is if fickle Mr. Nelson didn’t require them be celibate for three years hiding behind a waterfall in a rainbow tree or some shit.

Tell them mystical Mr. Z12Z you understand the man. …..Translate damit! Make yourself useful for once!wink

Before overreacting like you just did I suggest you read what I posted very carefully before saying booshit again. and what YOU posted that I put in bold please.

May I remind you that was a couple of years ago things have changed Lisa has a daughter now Wendy has a son now everyone has their own projects. Im a parent myself I sure would not want to drag my child out on tour NOR spend a long time away from my child being on tour.

These Musicians love playing live from evrything i seen and read, the point being is that it could happen, yes the age window is coming to close and Prince being as fickle as he is he could make it happen. God knows stanger things have happened.

ps the boolshit was meant in a playfull tone, didnt mean to ofend you if i did.

if prince can play the same songs again and again and again at every concert he might as well play with the band that he was with when they songs were released. lol

they have all evolved as artist, i think it would be nice to hear how the evolution bleeds into the revolution.

I would love if they had concert like at Radio City Music Hall or something, complete with the Clair Fisher Orchestra, and played all those unreleased gems plus a couple of new ones for a live concert CD DVD.

Although it would be nice like the hit and run type stuff like say NYC then Chicago then Dallas then LA then that is all. This way they wont get board with the same songs night after night for who knows how many months at a time you know( but Ill dream on too) cloud9

I have absolutely no interest in a Revolution reunion. It would be worse than watching Jefferson Airplane come back as Starship. Wendy & Lisa , for example have moved on to great things, and have found their own voice so to speak.

What I would LOVE to see is Prince actually put together a Superband of well known musicians with their own styles, etc. etc--Piers, up and coming stars, well established stars, etc.
Kind of like a funky version of Velvet Revolver. THAT would be interesting. Prince has shown that he can collaborate pretty well, and at least (LIVE), he's shown that he can let folks 'do their thing'. It would be very interesting to see Prince absorb influences from those sessions and take it to the next phase in his career. He did it with Larry Graham a few years back--though not with the most stellar of results lol

I read somewhere, Susan Rodgers i think saying that they never worked as hard or spent as much time and money as they did on SOTT, and it shows, its a first rate package all around from the songs, production to final packaging to tour to movie.

whatever he does, it would be nice if it didn't sound and feel as hastily thrown together on the cheap as everything he's done in the past decade.

That's not gonna happen. Prince would have to pay the musicians he is working with more than $500 a week. Right?
