okay okay i just relistened to jughead and it godawful - ive got a headache!!

I love "Courtin' Time". It's a fun, quirky song....key word FUN. "Jughead" can eat a dick.

FREAKS ON THIS SIDE is not one of my favourites.

I never really liked 'Diamonds & Pearls' I remember thats when a lot of ppl I knew of started really liking Prince..I just didn't like that song....

this thread just goes to show the diversity of prince fans and song taste.

I like "Friend, Lover, Sister, Mother/Wife" It's not GREAT, but a nice song. I REALLY like Tangerine, especially the extended version. Courtin' Time I like as well.

I Rock Therefore I Am (The reggae rapper is the main problem, but the song is poor as well)

Just remembered... "Life O' The Party" -- I can't stand it!!

For the record, my favorite Prince song is "Somebody's Somebody"

The entire "Batman" CD..I loathe "Partyman"..one of the worst songs written.

The entire "Come" CD..One of the worst CD's ever made in music history.

"Right The Wrong" sounds like it was written in 2 minutes w/ no thought.

All the "Emancipation" songs mentioned earlier.

Most of the songs on "New Power Soul".

Most of the songs on "3121".

The entire "Planet Earth" CD. Listened to it once and put it away. I couldn't even tell you the names of any of the songs on it.

To answer your questions..YES..I am a real P fan and have been since I bought "Prince" (on vinyl..yes I'm dating myself) back in Nov 1979. I also bought P's new joints the day they came out (in the "wrecka stow) throughout the 80's and still do..it's a ritual.

The P material that I mentioned (IMHO) is weak, not up to par music. But that's my opinion. There's people on the org that have said they don't like PARADE (which I love)..but that's OK too.

P's music used to grab me, reel me in, and take me on a trip. He did that for me from 78 to 88. He did that for me with "D & P" and "Symbol" in the 90's. Hell I actually dug "Chaos and Disorder". "Musicology" and "T.R.C" were cool and I loved "NEWS".."Come"?."Rave"?..."3121"?.."P.E"?..uh...no thanks.

I know P can't go back in time and musicians are always looking for new sounds, but I know P can deliver when he wants to. That reply song "F.U.N.K"?? That was a step in the right direction. THAT'S the P I remember.

Here's two cents more:

Courtin' Time is great stuff; shows that Price as a composer is expertly versed in other genres of music than what you would expect from him.

For people who like Swing dancing that song killed.

The Wedding Feast is a classical composition by Sergey Prokofiev from the ballet, Romeo and Juliet.

Prince was quoting it on the Rainbow Children.

And whoever made the point about opinions was right on. There really are no bad songs per se, only personal likes and dislikes.
