Just My Imagination - which guitar?

Okay, so let's just stipulate (for purposes of this thread, anyway) that the Just My Imagination guitar solo from The Small Club is the best he ever did. wink

I have always wondered, though - since I've never seen any film or photos from that show - which guitar did he play on that? I know he had a blue Cloud at Camden the same year...but I don't know enough about guitars to be able to tell which one he's playing just from listening.

Was anyone there? Does anyone know?

it's still the cloud guitar ...HOWEVER i suggest that u listen 2 the camden palace version as well..that solo is fierce!!!

and as 4 best solo ever, again i say listen 2 purple rain from syracuse ...he's in another zone during that solo
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Nope. Sorry. I will never change my mind on this one. That solo does..."things"...to me. It's like it lights up every cell in the pleasure pavilions of my brain.

Have you ever seen the episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation...where they're playing The Game? That's what that song is like for me. He hits certain notes and, if I close my eyes, I can actually feel them searing into my brain.

It's auralgasmic.

i have all the STTNG seasons on dvd ..remind me of the epsiode..is that the one where it looks like tic tac toe?

and the solo is by no means bad..we'll just agree 2 disagree on this one lol

Maybe...they put on some headgear and they have to "will" a gamepiece into a funnel with their mind. When they succeed, they get some kind of brain stimulation.

Oh! I just remembered - I think Ashley Judd guested in that episode!

prince used 4 guitars on the lovesexy tour -the blue angel, the peach cloud, the thunderbolt guitar and the honer. but 2 my knowledge he only used the thunderbolt during anna stesia. so it's safe 2 assume that it was the cloud guitar

It would have surfaced by now. There is probably none.

which guitar did he play on that?

My guess would be the blue angel. Confirmation lies in the sound. Some musicians will be able to verify.

Was anyone there? Does anyone know?

Abierman says he was there, along with about 10.000 other dutchies... wink But then again, if you listen carefully, you can hear him:

Prince: 'Show hands, how many of you are drunk?'
Abierman: Another twenty beers please!
Prince: 'Alright so you're not gonna make up any notes in your mind'
Abierman: :hurls:

I asked someone who had been at the club while waiting in the queue for the last o2 aftershow...she said it was a cloud guitar he was playing that night (but i'm not 100% sure she new her guitars that well)

certainly the pickups sound like emg's (which he has in the cloud guitars, but not in the hohner)

the lass i was talking to said that during 'people without' prince was on the keyboard with a single spotlight shining down on him, with the rest of the stage in darkness....which i found interesting

As for the solo on the camden show, there's a little segment on the bbc2 def ii documentary, you can see that he stops the solo short because his guitar cuts out...he plays with the jacks but the sound doesn't come back, so he moves back to vocals...still a great solo though!

That "show of hands" part is hilarious. When he says, "Allll rrrright!" he sounds so Minnesota.

I got paid today, so I think it's gonna be Controversy. I feel I'll enjoy it more as I think Controversy will be funkier than Prince, which I think will be more poppy, and a want the funk...
