AM I the only one that can smell the NERDGEEK in Prince?

it seems no matter how hard he tries to be "cool" i can see the young insecure cat in him thats trying to fit in and be accepted by being "different"
Its just something I pick up by watching him.
Him being a gifted person has given him a hedge over many but he has many complexes about him and he has to carry himself to be the top dog in the world he created around him. I can sense a constant need of him to be seen as cool. its kinda sad but thats alot of people for you.

It just shows that that is something many cant grow out of. I mean the man is 50 and still has to strut and pout like george jefferson, lol

You are not the only one to see this in Prince. Actually it is one of the things that has attracted me most. Even down to some of his lyrics. But I have always been attracted to what the world calls "Nerds/Geeks" they are such freaks smile I have often been considered somewhat of one and well....I have said too much smile

I see it too. nod

We have to be careful about speculating too much and over-analyzing, but at the same time a well-adjusted, socially competent individual simply does not behave the way Prince does.

It's not so much the clothes and makeup -plenty of "normal" folks dress like right fuck ups and it's not indicative of any larger problems except maybe a fondness for Hammer pants.

In Prince it's more his over-the-top showboating; his constant need to be the "big man" and the center of attention. It's his perfectionism and his snotty, even mean, treatment of others. It's in how he goes out of his way sometimes to be strange (Tora Tora, anyone?)

To jack a line from Velvet Goldmine, Prince lives in terror of not being misunderstood.

I think anyone who could embrace technology to such an extent at an early age has to have a mega high degree of inner geekiness.

Agreed. Doesn't Alan Leeds reference this in the org interview that he did? Something about Prince understanding the reaches of the Internet before it was barely popular.

Anyway, the best word to describe Prince (and I'm sure it's been used many times) is versatile. His looks, his music, his voice and even his personality. He has the super sexy side, the cute side, arrogant, shy, geeky and about anything else you could ever think of. That's why we love him, right? He's just full of surprises and you never know what to expect!

Individuals have underestimated his level of intelligence. Its easy to be caught up in the fashion and artistic achievements of a performer. He has an advanced level of perception of learning. In basic terms, an undercover geek lol cool

I love the geek in Prince always have, most geniuses are that way, he doesn't have to fit into mainstream society, he's rich and beautiful and got more money and power than he really knows what to do with. like Bill Gates and a lot of other multi-millionaires. biggrin

I'll bet there are aspects to Prince's genius that would blow our minds, He could probably study something and mentally just figure it out like teaching himself so much about music, he's obviously got an untapped thirst for knowledge
He seriously needs to have a child and pass those genes on! nod
