PRINCE HEADLINING COACHELLA FESTIVAL!

Prince will make what is believed to be his first festival appearance ever at Coachella later this month. Organizers confirmed today that the artist will headline the Saturday (April 26) lineup, joining previously announced headliners Jack Johnson (April 25) and Roger Waters (April 27).

I already have tickets! HOWEVER, Prince would be wise to change up the current set-list and lose the pimp suits, the horns, Larry G., etc -- I LOVE the man but I doubt any of the recent Prince material will interest the Coachella set.

Coachella just got a royal infusion of talent: Prince is coming 2 the desert.

After weeks of rumors, promoters of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival announced today that they have indeed inked a deal that will add Prince to the lineup of the massive three-day show in Indio, which kicks off April 25.

The Purple One, who will perform April 26, brings major star power to a lineup that some fans had criticized as a lower-wattage affair than in years past. The lineup for this year includes Roger Waters, Jack Johnson, Portishead, the Raconteurs, the Verve, Death Cab for Cutie, Love and Rockets and Kraftwerk.

The Grammy Award winner behind such classics as “Purple Rain,” “When Doves Cry,” “1999” and “Raspberry Beret” adds to Coachella’s history of off-the-wall bookings, such as the decision to bring Madonna to the festival’s dance tent in 2006 and Pink Floyd auteur Waters to the main stage this year.

The 49-year-old musical chameleon was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, the same year he released “Musicology,” a resurgent album in his long and influential career. He followed that up with “3121,” the first album of his to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

The only problem with the online live link up is that u.s.a is 8 hours behind england, so if prince comes on stage at say, 8pm (a guess), in england thatll be about 4 am!! lol

on the 6th april at his house party he played a new song, i wouldnt be surprised if he plaued it at the festival.

although im expecting at least 3 "classics" that he hasnt done since 2004. Pehaps When Doves cry, Sign o the times and little red corvette

No, come as you are Prince! They know who he is. If they don't want the full Prince experence, they shouldn't come. He or any other artist should not have to change who they are. I can understand a little tweaking here and there for your audience, but no major changes. Prince should be Prince and rock the house or desert anyway.
