The Most Beautiful Girl In The World OK, why do people dislike this song??? Ive seen quite a few posts where people dismiss it as rubbish, and prince hardly ever plays it live (either cos he cant reach the notes or doesn't like it himself).
Whilst I dont think its in his all time top 10, I think its a really great tune, and has a fantastic falsetto vocal - one of his best, and is probably his last well known song. It's a pity he couldnt capitalise on such a hit by releasing the Gold Experience at the same time. Instead people bought the Come album and thought "what the f..". Also, why didn't he release the Holy River as the first single from emancipation? Its much better than Betcha By Golly Wow, and it's his own composition. | |

TMBGITW is a nice song, OK, but it's quite a commercial 1 also... So dis is 1 of the reason lotsa people don't like it. Another might b than it's a naive love song, & u should know that lotsa young persons these days just HATE what's not pessimistic, dark & serious...
As 4 the Holy River... Well, @ dis times Prince began 2 release singles 4 the radio & collectors only, & it was never in the goal of making them hits like it was the case b4. So it was not really important which would b released 1st. If it had been done in the purpose of makin' a hit, Sleep Around or Face Down would have been a better choice anyway... | |

I remember Prince got the last laugh when he released 'The Most Beautiful Girl In The World'on an indie label. It became his first UK No 1 single.

"The Most Beautiful Girl In The World" is a great song to me. And the idea behind the video's conception is a beautiful thought as well. I love the remix that begins "Girl O Girl, Girl O Girl..." Sure it's commercial and "saccharine" and all that...it is Prince at one of his finest moments, though.

Well I'll say it like this, I'm not really into it, but my friends who aren't Princefans, always loves this song!! They don't like anything by him but this song they do like! I myself, would say its a nice song, but SO NOT the best he has done! | |

I like the remixes, but the single itself isn't his best.

I really hated it the first time I heard it. I liked the remixes better, but not much. It's not a great song, but it was a huge commercial success, so someone must of liked it ! | |

The version on the Gold Experience is awful.. its shows what happens when someone is bored with a song. The version on the beautiful experience, with the extra 30 seconds is the best version. Whilst not an outstanding song it stil has great vocals if somewhat sentimentally simplistic lyrics.
But hey-ho I'd listen to this more than the Rainbow children. Then again I'd listen to Chaos & Disorder more than the Rainbow Children. ------------------------------

 2 The Most Beautiful Girl In The World...I love this song...whether it is classified as 2 Babyfaceish, or whatever other adjective might appeal 2 others...I find the melody 2 be so beautiful. Listen 2 the remixes...that melody carries well in all of the versions. Plus the words are great, plus it was the backdrop 4 a video I made of my 2 Most Beautiful Girls. And after hearing the song thousands of times  during the production of that video and still loving it...it's got that special sumthin', sumthin' 4 me. And my little Most Beautiful Girl just took her single copy 2 daycare 2day..she has such good taste! Just my  Live 4 Love

Okay, there is that very attractive Hispanic-looking woman, who looks like she could be in a revamped Vanity 6;  but for the most part, we don't normally see these type of women in a Prince video. Could that version have been "re-mastered" so that Prince was able 2 retain the MASTER of the "original" version(s) that appear on the "Beautiful Experience" and CD single? I would presume that WB owns the master 2 "The Gold Experience". Remember, if U don't own your master, your master owns U.  Regardless, in spite of Prince not playing the song live, I would think that it still symbolizes something special 2 him. Especially in the NPGMC references in his "Retrospeculation" posting.
Besides, I am biased, I still love the song, as well as TRC!

The video for that song is actually one of my favorite P videos. The people he recruited were a bit corny, especially the 4 non blondes - looking person. But prince's outfit, moves, and facial expressions were mesmerizing and otherworldly. I really enoyed the projections, and bold lighting and colors. | |

it wuz so cheap cuz p used half the video budget on makeup & eyeliner. lol yes!...he had the foundation and eyeliner piled on thick that day...must've had some blemishes...
