Oh lawd, I was at a store today and that song came on.

Now, I used to just regard it as a minor song in the Prince arsenal of the mid 80's---catchy, it had a (at that time) modern synth sound to it, and laid back yet intense vocals. It didn't sound like anything else on the radio at the time.

Actually, what of Prince's DID sound like what was on the radio at the time?

Anyways, this song brought me waaaaayyyyy back to when I had first originally heard it in my buddy's mom's mini-van, all dobly digital and shit.
Prince, the bis-sexual looking, italian/french/latino looking, androgenous motherfucker that came into my life and totally blew me away!!!!

It was as if, when he took stage in his cute little lace get-up, hair all looking like Little-Richard getting ready for the prom, makeup done up just right, with his big doe eyes, little pouty lips, as if to say "Yes motherfuckers, I may look like I , but I will like a cat drinking warm milk! Jesus, the Purple Rain album was such a huge part of my life for years to come. I compared all his albums after it to Purple Rain up until LoveSexy was released, and I realized Prince would never repeat himself again.

I just love the part in "I would Die 4 U" where he says "I-oh-I-oh-I-oh really need is to know that you believe" where his voice does that choppy whatever-it-is and you just say to yourself, "Damn, bitch--sang it! "

I was ALWAYS horny a that age, and that album only served to make it worse. I just remember putting Purple Rain on, playing it from beggining to end, and back again, while going through my old man's penthous magazines and .

I honestly believe I on that album. Prince shamelessly sang about themes Madonna ONLY wishes she had done first. "Like a virgin?" Bitch please, I'm talking about twinkle toes Princey Poo, purple bananas and dirty magazines! Fucking "Like a virgin" my ass!

Anyways, that album REALLY brought me back to that time period.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy not having spontaneous erections when going through simple things like my mom's Sears and Robucks catalogue, or in math class. But sometimes, Prince songs just bring me way way back, ya heard?
