Prince is such a unique human being!

Prince has always portrayed and eminated an extremely rare sense of confidence strongly evident from even well before he was realising his fame and starting to play a part in an industry where you can express yourself a bit more freely!

Society all over the world has never openly accepted or been kind to those who dare to be different, or even make the slightest effort to understand or encourage those that attempt to express their own individuallity! Instead the masses comfort themselves in false securities by conforming to traditions, opinions and allowing themselves to be molded by commercialism.

The shallow and fickle fashion industry dictates what you must wear if you want to look amazing and look better than everyone else, only to tell you a month or so later that you shouldn't be seen dead in it!!! Faux Pas!!!

Those that do dare are practically guaranteed to attract attention and be singled out, judged, labelled and pigeonholed into convenient groups who will then most likely be alienated. Opinions will be formed on pre-conceptions primarily based on image resulting in unfounded judgements enforced - with no regard or consideration that under the clothes, hair, make-up etc. is another human being - a real live person - that has feelings, emotions, a conscience and wants to be loved just the same as anyone!

Want they all seem to want though, is to be left alone!

Punks, Goths, Gays, Emo's, Transvestites, Glam Rockers, Cyber/industrial/alternatives, Those who are heavily pierced, tattoo'ed etc. Even something as simple as guys that wear makeup and nail varnish! They all attract negative attention by the masses that don't understand, which then insights ridicule and hatred!

It is because of this that I have no doubt (just an opinion) that there are more people on this planet that suppress their feelings of expression through fear of the ridicule and opinions imposed upon them!!!

PRINCE however has always has potrayed himself though, to the point that he seems oblivious that this type of behaviour could actually exsist (although I'm sure he's not).

Prince has this fantastic faith and belief in himself and seems to follow his instinct and be ruled and persuaded by his own opinion.

He has never followed or promoted fashion trends, or wear anything considered pret-a-porter.

It seems that the only thought that Prince has on what he will and wont wear is simply "If I like it and I want to wear it, thats the only opinion I need!"

His confidence in himself, especially his sexuality, also fuels his expressive nature and flamboyancy. Clothes do not make the man! He dosn't think twice about wearing high heels, lycra hipsters, self support stockings, knee high suede boots, crop tops, frills, lace, crochet etc etc, because to him - at the end of day it just gets taken off to leave the man underneath! No excuses!

A very interesting point that may be worth pondering over for a bit is that in nature it is the male of the species that is the colourful and flamboyant as a necessity to attract its mate.

We are one of the only species that seems to work the other way around! Perhaps Prince is actually one of the few that has got it right!!!

He looks like many people - especially Little Richard - but I'm aiming towards the more mental side of uniqueness than the physical/facial facetts!

There is no other artist alive today, who could deliberate sabotage his own career with so much fervor, only to come out trumping his own self-implosion with career success.

Nobody can pull that shit off---just look at how miserably Michael Jackson is doing trying to do that shit.

And as far as Janet Jackson---she doesn't need to. Her lack of talent never even got her to the point of implementing Prince's 'unique' self-sabotage business model.

Prince is unique.

He is cool

I don't know why everyone's turning this around and saying that he isn't rolleyes

Could still be newbie-syndrome talking, but in my view, he's very unique.
He's the first true artist I've come to know. Someone who truly lives for the music that he writes.
I originally thought of him as a present-day Mozart... so even in my view, he's not completely original wink

So what if he isn't? shrug It's hard to be completely original anymore. So much time has passed that everyone has pretty much done everything.

Here's where Prince is unique.
He takes whatever he sees and hears other artists do and makes that his own. That's how he started out. He takes that to the next level, improves upon the original idea and eventually, he evolved into his own person.
In the 80's, he was unique in the respect that he didn't follow trends, he started them cool

Among the artists of today's "music"... he's unique in the respect that he's not them falloff He just continues to do his own thing and follow his own beliefs of what music is meant to sound like.

So as a human being, probably not original/unique. I've already compared him to Mozart. Someone so dedicated to the music that it seemed (at least for a while) that he was obsessed with the idea of creating and recording and releasing. He's eccentric and regarded as a genius and he's not the first wink

To me, he is unique because I know no other artist/person like him. cool
had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

Hate to break it to you, kids...but we're all unique.

I, for example, love to eat Fruit Loops only on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and hot cereal on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The weekend, you ask? Well, it's usually not set in stone...so I change it up all the time. Sometimes I go all out and have pancakes.

See? We're all unique.

I'm not really refering to his music. That is unquestionably unique!

I'm refering more towards the androgeny of his image in comparison to his heterosexuality.

Not many hetero men pull off what Prince does with such conviction and no explaination!

Men used to dress VERY flamboyantly, right up until I think the middle of the 19th Century? Then they got all boring, and women took over biggrin

I really admire Prince's self belief, although I think it's easier when you have a job such as his, people aren't going to ridicule you quite as much, and you just wouldn't be allowed to wear what he wears / wore if you were working in a corporate company! Therefore, it will always tend to be more 'creative' people, who dress and act differently too.

ok, we're all Prince fans here.

There's no doubt about that.

But you have to admit that the evidence is irrefutable that Jami0Mckay is more unique than Prince is.

I can't deny it anymore. To do so would be dishonest to me and to Jesus.
