Prince blindsides Blind Boys at Knitting Factory
March 10, 2008 12:36pm

Leave it to His Purpleness to surprise nearly everyone, including Knitting Factory club owners, when he strolled into the Hollywood venue in the middle of a Blind Boys From Alabama set on Friday night. The “Kiss” singer hopped on stage and performed “Soldier in the Army of the Lord.” Apparently a major fan of the gospel group, the artist played lead guitar on “Soldier” and surely gave the unsuspecting crowd their money’s worth.

Of course, this is not the first time Prince has dropped in to see an act he likes, only to jump on stage when the spirit moves him. The artist-now-known-as-Prince-once-again played guitar with Stevie Wonder at a Madison Square Garden gig last fall for a funky (as if it could be any other way) version of “Superstition.”

Yeah, I heard about it Saturday morning. I thought it was hella cool. No surprise though. P is a HUGE fan of gospel music.

Yes! THAT Prince ...the Artist! ...Star of 'Purple Rain' ...MAN, MYTH, & LEGEND!

Last night at The Knitting Factory in Hollywood, California PRINCE joined The Blind Boys for their final song of the evening. As Jimmy Carter took a blind walk of faith into the PACKED crowd of fans singing and leading them in song, PRINCE came onto the stage and added some amazing guitar and then keyboard work to the mix! The band and crowd and PRINCE were all at once UNIFIED in some ROCKIN' gospel soul and it was another historical moment in the legend of The Blind Boys of Alabama.

Thanks to the great PRINCE for helping us take it to another level last night.
We'll hope to see him join us again ...anytime ...anywhere!

The POWER of GOSPEL music continues to AMAZE!

Hope YOU will join us at one of our many tour dates SOON!

Love, -The Blind Boyz
